Once again, Ron Paul has captured the hearts and the minds of Conservatives at the CPAC Conference, and it is likely that he will once again win the straw poll for president. Of course, that award is mainly symbolic, but does reflect the fact that Ron Paul, once considered to be somewhat of a nut, is beginning to finally prevail. He received thunderous applause when he mentioned closing bases we don't need, and to stop supporting dictators with our tax dollars.

Yes, Ron Paul was once seen as crazy. He was called crazy for supporting Pat Buchanan's call to build a border wall. The wall is now being built. He was called crazy for wanting to audit the Fed. Congress began serious consideration of that this week, and Paul heads the committee that is considering it. Ron Paul, during his speech, made a statement that we wouldn't have to end the Fed because the Fed would end itself.

Ron Paul said:
They have eliminated 98 percent of value of the 1913 dollar, and it's continued erosion.

Very true.

But Ron Paul saved the best for last.

Ron Paul said:
Defend liberty.

I totally agree. If Ron Paul is crazy, then so am I, and am proud to be so. God bless America, and God Bless Ron Paul, the next Senator from Texas. As for president, Barry Goldwater never got to be President, but he brought us Ronald Reagan. Who will Ron Paul bring us? I can't wait to find out. It is getting pretty ****ing exciting to be a Conservative these days. Pardon my language, but I ask no pardon for my enthusiasm.

Ron Paul has always had GOOD points. He's also been slightly off his rocker.

He's a good conservative firebrand, but nothing more.

He's the only politician I can agree with most of the time and the only one I'd donate money to his campaign. He seems to be an honest, principled, politician. Such a rarity these days...

Link to full CPAC speech

While other republicans seem to rallying many of the elderly, Ron Paul has a large following of young people. Republicans should be paying attention to him.

How about a bet then? I lost the Bill White one to Texmaster. Perhaps you will grant me the opportunity to even the score? If Paul runs, he wins, barring a medical problem that forces him to drop out. Deal?

You got it. And either way, I am going to talk to my band about playing helotes. It's probably going to be a while, since this is a completely new lineup, but I look forward to a night of playing music and trash talking with Mr. V in San Antonio. If we play there, you get a pass. :)

I said the same thing once, back when I was playing for Viper. My hair ended up all the way down to my ass.

Government has always been in the process of failing. :)

What he's talking about is economy... which isn't economical at all right now.

Speaking of government failing, I wonder if our senators and congress critters know more than we give them credit for? Anyone notice the number of congress critters that are jumping ship? It almost seems they don't want be in office when the **** hits the fan.

There is a scientific term for that.....

TFA, otherwise known as Tar and Feathering Avoidance.

He managed to find hearts and minds at CPAC? :2razz:

but does reflect the fact that Ron Paul, once considered to be somewhat of a nut, is beginning to finally prevail.

He's still considered a nut everywhere else - it's just the Republican Party has gone off the deep end and can't tell night from day anymore. Not that they've ever really played for the Sanity Team.

He received thunderous applause when he mentioned closing bases we don't need, and to stop supporting dictators with our tax dollars.

Thus guaranteeing he will never be the Republican presidential nominee. It's a fascist party - if Barack Obama made an identical statement, the same people who applauded the line from Ron Paul would have called the President a treasonous weakling trying to open America up to "invasion" by "muslins."

Yes, Ron Paul was once seen as crazy.

Because he is crazy. Not necessarily a bad person, and not evil the way so many in his party are, but definitely not in regular communication with reality.

He was called crazy for supporting Pat Buchanan's call to build a border wall. The wall is now being built. He was called crazy for wanting to audit the Fed. Congress began serious consideration of that this week, and Paul heads the committee that is considering it.

And I'm sure that consideration will be very thorough and satisfying - a fine consolation prize for the fact that it's never going to happen. Not, at least, under a Republican Congress. The GOP would bury people alive before it would allow an audit of the Fed. To the extent Paul's influence with the base grows, his foibles will be indulged, but if he gets out of line the Republican media will get a memo from Roger Ailes saying that Paul is now on the outs, and suddenly all his coverage will sound like they're talking about Jack The Ripper rather than some deluded libertarian. The Republican Party is evil. Ron Paul is not. They will use him to the extent they can without sacrificing any of their power or loot, and beyond that they'll just throw him away.

Ron Paul, during his speech, made a statement that we wouldn't have to end the Fed because the Fed would end itself.

The Fed will not end itself, and this is hardly an issue that resonates with the American electorate.

As for president, Barry Goldwater never got to be President, but he brought us Ronald Reagan.

More like the vestiges of Richard Nixon's jackboot squad brought you Ronald Reagan - they were the ones who overwhelmingly ran his administration. He was just a mindless actor who preened for the cameras and pretended to be a leader while the predecessors and contemporaries of men like Dick Cheney operated the machinery, setting the stage for their own ultimate ascendence under George W. Bush. Conservatives who fawn over the memory of Ronald Reagan yearn for a fantasy that never existed - a sham image covering an ugly underbelly.

Who will Ron Paul bring us?

Ted Nugent? Orly Taitz? The reincarnation of Jefferson Davis? :2razz:

I can't wait to find out. It is getting pretty ****ing exciting to be a Conservative these days.

Why? Your movement is completely owned. I hope you carefully track the progress of Paul's Fed audit so you understand what an absolute patsy he is. The Republican Party is a fascist organization.
