CPAC's First Day Highlight's Ron Paul's Popularity

Today began the CPAC conference. It is going to be a very interesting weekend, but so far the most interesting part was this exchange:

Perhaps the most memorable event of the day was the awarding of the Defender of the Constitution Award, which was bestowed upon Donald Rumsfeld. Vice President Dick Cheney appeared as a surprise guest to present the award to George W. Bush’s Defense Secretary.
Conservatives in the audience could not disguise their disdain for this year’s recipient, booing and jeering him and asserting that the award should have absolutely been awarded to Congressman Ron Paul.
In fact, throughout a number of Thursday’s symposiums, Ron Paul supporters could be heard chanting Ron Paul’s name, or touting his strict defense of constitutional principles. Thus far, they have appeared to be the most outspoken attendees at the conference, and their energy and passion is certainly contagious.
On Saturday evening, the winner of the CPAC presidential straw poll will be announced. Last year, Congressman Ron Paul won the majority of the vote. If the climate at this year’s CPAC is indicative of the results, it appears history may repeat itself this weekend.

I like how some people here call Ron Paul a loon, but when it comes to Conservative principles, he seems to be the most popular. Don't forget that, a while back, Paul got called a loon for daring to speak out to audit the Fed. In January, the the bill to audit the Fed was introduced by the GOP, and guess who chairs the committee overseeing the bill? LOL.

I think that the members of CPAC, this year, are once again showing their good taste, class, and intelligence. :mrgreen:

Whose idea was it to give Donald Rumsfeld that award, thats almost like spitting on the Constitution Ron Paul should have got that award since he has actually been defending the Constitution ever since he has been in office.

I believe that the crowd yelled exactly the same thing. Giving the award to Rumsfeld was a ****ing joke. He is the one who said that we'd better watch what we say.
