On Tuesday, the office of First Lady Michelle Obama sponsored several conference calls featuring administration officials discussing Mrs. Obama's “Let’s Move!” campaign to combat childhood obesity but “with listen-only lines for the media,” according to The Washington Daybook. On Wednesday, Mrs. Obama personally conducted a conference call for “online media” that was “by invitation only,” according to the Daybook.
Traditionally, conference calls that public figures in Washington, D.C. hold for the media--which, obviously, are designed to get media attention for the public figure--allow the reporters who join the call to ask at least a few questions.

Yes, they need to let the press ask tough questions regarding the very controversial program. I'm glad that someone has dug this up. The Obama's have been getting way too much slack in the press and someone needs to hold them accountable for the things that have done, even if those things aren't controversial in the least and would only be criticized by partisan hacks...

Like children First Ladies should be seen and not heard. This one should not even be seen.

Once Obama lied his ass into office she was suddenly beautiful. Give me a break. She's toothy, bony. and has an ugly Anti-American attitude that matches he mate.

Why is it that a woman who are qualified to do nothing are suddenly making the front page of the paper for shooting their mouths off.

The rabid hate for Michelle Obama amongst many here at DP is way beyond me. As first lady, she's done an exception job -- which is unfortunately, not a description I'd bestow on her husband.

Yea. Too bad this wasn't a press conference. It was a phone conference among various officials regarding this program and the press were allowed to listen in on the phone call. To try to blow this up into them being secretive is absolutely insane.

The point I am making, is why does Michelle think she is too good to take questions from the press? The whole press, not the folks they allow into the intersanctum.

I honestly do not recall the media going after Laura Bush. I'm not saying it didn't happen, but I simply cannot recall it happening.
