Obama: Corporate Profits "Have To Be Shared By American Workers"

This post demonstrates exactly what is wrong in America today. Our society has become a culture of "how can I maximize my bottom line" without any concern about what it takes to get there.

That's not necessarily true. In this day and age, companies have to compete for qulity labor. Any company that treats quality employees like crap lose those employees to another company that will treat them better.

There was a time in this country where people took pride in their jobs and in their work because the company took pride in their workers and their products.

Those times ended, because there are too many people screaming that workers should get paid way more than their worth. The reason workers took pride in their work, was because they wanted to move up the ladder. Nowadays, they know that politicians will get them a raise and they don't have to perform for it.

No one, including Obama is saying that companies and shareholder shouldn't make a profit...What Obama is saying is absolutely correct...we need to return to the time when American companies had a soul and actually reinvested some of the money the company made into the company and the workforce.

That's true moreso today, than any other time in our history.

Bah...everyone is reading this all wrong. He isnt calling for wealth redistribution. He is making a politically correct shoutout to 'the workin man' to justify lowering corporate taxes. He is doing what the republicans want him to do to stimulate job development. He is just wrapping it in sparklies. Nothing is going to change. executives will still get paid. Shareholders will still get profits. And hopefully, more people will be employed with decent wages.

Except, he didn't lower business taxes. They're the same as they have been for years. What's been lowered are business revenues. Since business revenues are lower, new hiring isn't going to take place and raises are going to become less frequent.

Of course, you want him to just do do do for business and to hell with those whose back the profits are made on. People go on and on about how the best and brightest are paid great, but this is not the case. Worker wages have been largely stagnant for the last forty years. Yet CEO pay has increased some 450%. A call for not pushing US workers into a Chinese pay bracket is not over the top, it is a necessity. Though all in all, I must agree with Vance. Nothing will change and this was all political spin.

There are literally millions of un-employed and under-employed people in this country that would love for a company to be making profits off their backs.
