Keith Olbermann announces tonight's Countdown as his last show!

Spoken like a true legal scholar.

I thought it was YOU who were the legal scholar? So where is the proof of what you boasted about earlier in the day? Instead of evidence all you give me is what you hope passes for smart aleck remarks. I will not engage you in that manner.

And you are the inside man who has the "facts' on this?

Eagerly waiting to hear them from the horses mouth.

Somehow I think I will have more success waiting for Godot.

Posted the statement from Comcast already. I can't help it if that is one of the facts you decided needs altering.

BTW... weren't you thread banned?

Like I said, I tried to explain this to you once already. If you'd rather hear it from someone else, I'm sure you can call and ask someone to reread my posts.

The statement from Comcast says nothing beyond their denial. And you are accepting that as the final word on this entire issue?

I know --- silly question.

Your concern for my welfare is overwhelming. NO. I was not banned from this thread despite your obvious joy at the prospect of both a ban and a violation.

NO. You "explained" nothing. What you did do is make this claim

In exchange for his willingness to not speak about the circumstances of his break with MSNBC, Olbermann received compensation beyond what he would have received had he retained the right to speak about the break.

And despite asking for evidence of this amazing claim, you have produced nothing except vitriol. Which is par for the course.

I'm astonished that this is too confusing for you. Really.

This is part of your MO. You make a claim. You cannot back up that claim. You are called out for it. Then you engage in obtuse rationalization to deflect from what you failed to do.

But do keep on.

again... your claim... your allegation ... your boast

In exchange for his willingness to not speak about the circumstances of his break with MSNBC, Olbermann received compensation beyond what he would have received had he retained the right to speak about the break.

And here follows all the evidence you supplied to support this claim:

1 -
2 -
3 -

I believe that covers it all.

Like I said, I explained it already. If you really believe the tin foil nonsense you've spouted throughout this thread, you probably won't understand my posts. Not my concern.

Link to the post where you supplied the evidence for you claim that

In exchange for his willingness to not speak about the circumstances of his break with MSNBC, Olbermann received compensation beyond what he would have received had he retained the right to speak about the break.

I have read each and every post you made between when you said that earlier today and now and you never supplied any evidence of this allegation.

Your so called explanation means nothing other than your own self serving rationalizations of your own failures to support your false allegations.

And do please keep this up. Its fun to have you on the hook and see you wriggle to get out. Just what you do to so many others in so many other threads. You taught me well and have been a good role model for the technique.

Not everyone can see what's put in front of their face.

Not everyone can see what's put in front of their face.

Particularly when you never placed such evidence of your statement

In exchange for his willingness to not speak about the circumstances of his break with MSNBC, Olbermann received compensation beyond what he would have received had he retained the right to speak about the break.

in front of my face or anyone elses face on this board since you posted your baseless allegation.

You made your baseless allegation in post # 205 earlier today. I then asked you to support it with the evidence. You then made posts #207,223,225,228,232,234 and 236 and did not include anything in there in the way of supporting evidence to support your claim. You and all others can go back and read them. I hope all do just that to see what you are all about and what tactics you employ to deflect from your failure to support your claims.

But please do continue wriggling on the hook.

Until someone comes up with FACTS that contradict the statement made by Comcast, yes... I will accept that as the reality of the situation. Do YOU have any FACTS, that show Comcast DID have something to do with Ko getting let go? If so, feel free to share them , or stop whining like a little byotch.

Keith ... he is a left wing hack journalist just like Hannity and O'Reilly are right wing hack journalists. They are the infotainment spin masters that use thinly veiled stories to disrupt serious discussions and facts.

Fox and MSNBC ... kinda the tabloid Paris Hilton of journalism. Oh yea ... Fox was formatted after the tabloid The Sun.

Good riddance.

Of course you will since it agrees with your own prejudices and partisan political feelings. No surprise there. The statement by Comcast is not a FACT which can be independently verified and proven true at this time since both of the other parties are not talking. It is merely a PR release designed to attempt to make them look good.

On Thursday, NBC’s news division staged an elaborate presentation for advertisers, seeking to sell commercial time in NBC’s news programs over the next year. All the members of MSNBC’s prime-time lineup spoke at the lunch with one exception: Keith Olbermann, the network’s biggest star. For the last several weeks, Mr. Olbermann and the network have been in negotiations to end his successful run on MSNBC, according to executives involved in the talks who requested anonymity because the talks were confidential. The deal was completed on Friday, and Mr. Olbermann made the announcement on his final “Countdown” hours later.

Friday’s separation agreement between MSNBC and Mr. Olbermann includes restrictions on when he can next lead a television show and when he can give interviews about the decision to end his association with the news channel. The executives involved in the discussions confirmed that the deal carries limitations for Mr. Olbermann in terms of when he can next work on television, though he will be able to take a job in radio or on any forum on the Internet. The deal also prohibits the host from commenting publicly on the deal, the executives confirmed.

Mr. Olbermann did not respond to requests for comment Friday or Saturday. None of the executives who discussed the deal would reveal the exact length of the restrictions. The decision was completed one year to the day from the last time NBC decided to end a relationship with an on-air star: Conan O’Brien. Mr. O’Brien agreed in the deal not to start up a new television show for nine months, and not to grant interviews for five months. The executives involved in the discussions with Mr. Olbermann said his agreement was not dissimilar to Mr. O’Brien’s.

Mr. Olbermann had butted heads with his superiors long before the Comcast deal, including Phil Griffin, the top MSNBC executive. According to several senior network executives, NBC’s management had been close to firing Mr. Olbermann before, most recently in November after he revealed that he had made donations to several Democratic candidates in 2010 — one of them, coincidentally, was Representative Gabrielle Giffords, who has been the subject of many of his recent shows after being shot in an assassination attempt.

those damn corporate fascists

it's conan all over again

btw- the Comcast takeover of NBC was first announced over a year ago. They have had plenty of time to make their feelings known to NBC management about the company they wanted in place when the deal became approved and official. And anyone who believes they have not let NBC know their feelings about such things --- well, now its my turn to say perhaps you don't know much about business.

I am sure the wet dream of every right winger just was achieved. Dissent just took it on the chin as now right wing talk can have even more of the air in the USA with less to worry about from anyone who sees things differently. I wonder if the corporate merger had anything to do with this?

I'm so glad the ouster of that idiot, Keith Olberman, hurts you to the core of your soul. It pleases me so much. OH JOY!!!

How mature and grown up.

Take this advice from someone who loaths and avoids all 24/7 news dribble: you're also being taken for a ride and I don't think you're going to like it very much when Beck is finally given the boot.

See American, that is the difference between a progressive like myself and a conservative right winger like you. I advocate greater air time and exposure for folks like Hannity, O'Reilly, Becan and Limbaugh. I would to see them all get two hour gigs on a major network so American and its people can see and hear their views.

You take joy in silencing an aggressive progressive.

This basically happened to Olbermann at ESPN. Then, Football Night in America. Now, even in the bastion of liberal spewage, Olbermann can't even get along here.

Olbermann is not a good man. He's barely human. He shrieks like a pig, attacks anyone in his path, completely explodes over nothing, and stews endlessly over a world that just can't see his greatness.

The Tea Party is helping to give conservatives their party back. Democrats are going to need the same.

The problem for liberals is that they've pushed things too far. The days when people were lost in a daze and not paying attention are over. The Democratic Party is now ruled by the likes of Olbermann, Maher, Michael Moore, Pelosi, Reid, and Obama. These fringe folks represent such a small sliver of the American public, that there's a huge backlash against them from both parties. Yeah, you've got a enough crazies to generate some ratings, but these aren't the type of folks worth advertisers attention, if you know what I mean.

I personally am not pleased with this. Olbermann is such a wretched human that he was good for the opposing cause.
