But rather IRONIC considering the Egyptian treatment of the Copts, both officially and unofficially.
Perhaps they felt 'outsiders' were bombing 'their copts'.

This is what I'm talking about when I say that Muslims should take an active interest in eradicating Islamic extremism. Too bad we don't see more of this.

But let's NOT think this is some general state of the Egyptian mind.

My post isn't spin, but the actual situation.

You only show partisanship and EMPTY hostility with yours.

Are you aware AT ALL of the recent history/PERSECUTION/Crimes (both official and unoffical) against the Copts in Egypt?

Because if you had ANY knowledge whatsoever you would agree this is Ironic and a TURN of events.

You might want to start with the English site of COPTS.com

So your response to people trying to put the prejudices of the past behind them is to say "hey, stop that! You're ignoring your rich tradition of killing each other!"?

I noticed, when it comes to muslims, no matter what the topic is about, the jest of your posts is to always make them look evil. what does your name stand for again? Murdered by islamic gunman, was it? i guess that speaks volumes on your concrete set mentality, the hatred you seethe for them obvisouly cannot be hidden.

As I said in the other thread:

This is lovely. Although I don't think the presence of Muslims would deter a determined terrorist, it's still a great display of human solidarity. We should all be focusing on this positive turn of events. This is no time to rehash bloody history.

I imagine you're the only person who read the OP and were disappointed. How dare those Muslim devils give you one fewer reason to hate them? What reason could they possibly have for stepping outside of the neat little box you put them in?

Rather than applauding the individuals participating in this effort for their bravery and strength of conviction, you're holding them responsible for atrocities committed hundreds of years before they were even born. Even were you magnanimous enough to leave Islam's ancient history aside and focus on more recent acts of hate and rage, you're still holding these individuals responsible for acts they took no part in.

Nothing they do will be good enough for you. They could come together to rescue an burning orphanage full of Christian children and see them adopted into Christian homes, and you'd postulate that they slipped copies of the Qur'an in with their clothing and personal items.

Blind hate such as yours is just as responsible for the state of the world as the violence done in the name of Allah. It fills me with disgust that I share a species with you, much less a country.

Just for reference, means my post was a giant steaming pile of sarcasm.

    True enough!
How about that! An Un-PC answer.

As an Atheist, I'm troubled by ALL Literalist religionism.
I have posted here against Christian (and to a proportionally lesser extent) Jewish religionists regularly.
In fact, the problems i have with the board in the last year have stemmed from my debates with those defending Religion, almost always creationist/anti-evolutionist, etc Christians as they are easily the most plentiful Here if not the planet.

And.... as a Consistent and rational Atheist, my biggest day-to-day Worldwide concern is the religion that is by far the most Literalist/pious and Violent in religion's name.
That WOULD be Islam in a Landslide.
Dozens are killed People are killed EVERY day in the name of Islam. Not even including the stats on the accepted Brutality of Shariah.
Barbaric religous law which has no real comparables in the Judeo-Christian world. Apostasy? Stoning for Adultery, Amputation!
(not to mention persecution of non-Muslim minorities as in this Very Case/The Copts)

So yes, I have a problem with Islam especially, as it is in great majority literalist/Fundamentalist and UNsecular.
Ergo, and also consistently, I admire most the Courage of those Muslim reformers who would have Islam become more secular/less doctrinaire.

The person I have quoted by far most frequently on this board? Practising Muslim Reformer Irshad Manji!

just a while ago as a matter of fact TODAY and to the above Iangb!!! (as yet unanswered)

When he tried a similar piece of PC BS.

So That is my completely logical and consistent position and why.

MY turn 24107.. a related question for you now.
    Is the Koran Literally true?

EDIT: You'll note the above Personal CHEAP SHOT of TeD.
Also a Lie, if you'll, read my post at the bottom of the last page which welcomes this turn of events, but does view them in Light of Actual recent history/sceptically. (I again refer the bd to ie, Copts.com)
Which doesn't answer my rational posts as to the Actual state of affairs re the Copts.
"Good enough" for me would be a Real and permanent change in behavior/law/practice by Egyptian Muslims and their govt in their discriminatory policies and hostile acts.

Your sentiment came across about as genuine as a $3 bill, and it's pretty obvious I'm not the only one who feels that way. Seeing as how 99% of your "contribution" to this thread has been to cast doubt on the value of this event, you'll get no sympathy from anybody else if you were misunderstood.
