Only if you marry the wrong person.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.

Nice way to take him out of context. He was specifically talking about LED bulbs, which at Lowes are $40 each.

You can when that lack of concern negatively effects the rest of us. Are you against traffic regulations as well? There is nothing in the constitution that guarantees your right to be wasteful to the detriment of others.

You didn't follow the thread of our discussion. LED's are not required under this new regulation.

Only because they will soon be phased out thats why they raised the price

No they're not, but you took the second part of his statement and ignored the first part which was about LEDs. It was addressing his statement out of context.

I think it's fair to say that one looses freedoms whenever you sign into any contract; because you are agreeing to abide by various terms and conditions. You have to operate within those limitations, and that's a loos of freedom even if it was voluntary.

Wrong. If I drive on the autobahn, where there is no speed limit and I only drive 55, I'm not giving up my rights to go faster, I'm simply choosing not to. Voluntarily refusing to take advantage of things doesn't mean you've lost your rights. Further, I cannot imagine any actual rights that are lost by entering into marriage, anything that is possibly lost was never a right to begin with.

You didn't enter into a contract with that road, you entered into a contract to drive, and according to the terms of the legislation regulating your license, you have to obey the speed limit. A specific road not having a speed limit doesn't change this. If that road has a double yellow line, you have to stay on the right. When you encounter a stop sign, you have to stop. You agreed to do these things when you signed the bottom of your application. If you choose to operate outside these terms and conditions, you will be subject to known consequences.

The right to contract: While married to one person, you cannot marry another.

The right to free association: Adultery can cost you half of everything you own, and if you're in the military, can land you in prison.

You're right to property: With rare exception, you can not disinherit your spouse and have that property go to someone else.

Then rights don't exist, everything is a privilege, and we're discussing the terms of privileges.

For the sake of simplicity, can we agree that a "right" is merely a 'shall-issue' privilege?

Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not, but it is pretty obvious to most sane and rational people that PeteEU is an America Heter.
