Hey, homosexuals have every right I have. I can marry an adult member of the opposite sex: they can marry an adult member of the opposite sex. I cannot marry John from class, my sister Hannah, or Fido the labrador from Petsmart.

    Okay. I'll explain.

If sodomite "marriage" becomes a legalized thing, then Christians lose. Because a wrong lifestyle that was formerly kept private and out of public eye for the most part will become something that everyone is expected to approve of. It isn't simply, "If you think homosexuality is wrong, heh, stay away from homosexuals." It becomes, "You think homosexuality is wrong? You need sensitivity training. You need to be expelled from your school, or fired from your job. People need to publicly disown you."
It will move to destroy my freedom of religion, the religion that a huge amount of this country has had since it's beginning. When homosexuals trash a church then, or threaten terrorism, it's no longer criminal acts, it's a persecuted minority striking back at horrible people. When parents become upset that their ten year olds are being taught at school that they might be gay, and that homosexuality is good and normal, they become the bad guys or religious bigots.

Real Christianity that actually believes in the Bible is incompatible with the homosexual agenda. Only one can have the 'rights'.

Re: Gay Republican Group Prompts Split Among Conservatives

Consider. Barack Obama is opposed to Gay Marriage. It troubles many within the Democratic Party and the liberal coalition but they still supported his groundbreaking run for the presidency. They could see past this disagreement in part because Obama as president really doesn't represent an obstacle to implementing Gay Marriage in the individual states.

CPAC has GOProud participate in planning its annual convention. They are a second tier event organizer, hardly influential of the overall tenor and structure of the event; but, in actions that seem mostly of the cutting off one's nose to spite one's face variety, significant social conservative groups are boycotting the convention to protest this limited participation.

For the conservative coalition, these actions are a real problem because they demonstrate a kind of intolerance that eliminates any hope of compromise and united action. Either the Gays go or the social conservatives go; it is now a badge of honor for them; it's a test of fealty to the true cause. And, what's next after that, the Libertarians might be well advised to ask.

What all this really is, is a failure of leadership. This is a dead end. It might feel good for some but it prevents a successful unification for the coming presidential cycle. And, they'll need their whole coalition to have any hope of success in unseating a sitting, (mostly) popular president.

Personally, I am delighted with this turn of events. Obama/Biden '12!

Are conservatives who support lgbt rights simply useful tools of the American left? That is the implication of your gloating. You make such conservatives question their support for lgbt folks. Is this what you want?

You got it backwards; the social conservatives are helpful to the liberal coalition by effectively preventing the conservative coalition from uniting.
