Again, you can't seem to escape from arguing with a logical fallacy. If you don't stop this, you will never be taken seriously.

Special right or cultural institution? Does the institution of marriage have a purpose such as a social vehicle for the procreation and rearing of individuals in a society or simply used as a reward for political support?

I'm afraid I'm not terribly concerned with being taken seriously by those who seem entirely intolerant of me and mine. I'm here simply to learn. I can suggest, however, that if you continue to ignore the feelings and motivations of the majority of the inhabitants of this country you are doing yourself a disservice. Prop 8 passed in california of all places for a reason.

You have a point and I understand it. My point being understanding the position of your opponents has merit.

Well most of the time people are too blinded by their own hypocrisy, racism, bigotry, or chauvinistic ways to see when they are being discriminatory and self serving.

It has happened a lot in history buy eventually the good guys win and sooner or later it will happen with this issue too.

If you want to debate the negative effects of modern humanist culture on traditional culture why don't we have a seperate thread on that?

Republican disdain for groups like GOProud is one of the reasons I dislike the Republican Party.
