Supremes facing eligibility challenge to Obama, again

Let me know when there is a prize on this board to be won. I tend to believe it when a partisan lawyer for the Dems stated that Bush was really bright when he was facing another election. In court we call that an admission against interest. Its rather reliable.

Sure thing Judge. One guy with one opinion based on how somebody handled other people. Anything you say Judge.

I can hear Bush now
" ya see ... uhh ... I got this here ... uh .... cefter ... ceftirakit .... uh... I got this here piece of paper from a really smart place .... where ... uh ... lots of rich folks go ... and some of them ... think... at least they tell me so... that ... um .... what was I going to say now? ... oh yeah .... I am smart."

This is interesting--when I mentioned Sham wow didn't have great college grades you dismissed that measure of intelligence yet when I mentioned Bush was called bright by people who knew him (and had no reason to lie) you claim they were wrong based on how he spoke

that's rather stupid on your part. and no one is claiming Bush was the brightest guy in the oval office but some obama slurper claimed Obama is.

and do you have any citation to your "quote"

of course not.

One of the 4-5 brightest people I ever met in College ended up not only earning a grandmaster rating in chess, but he won the "brilliancy" prize twice. His IQ was off the charts. try talking to the guy and a dullard would conclude he wasn't smart. in reality he was so smart and thinking about so many things, he came off as incoherent.

I know someone like that. He works in "code" for a large telecommunications company...whatever that is. He's absolutely brilliant, but can hardly put two sentences together in a social situation. Walks around with a coffee table book in his arms to shield himself from the world. Interesting, if tortured, soul.

Stuff just flies over your head like a flock of geese going south for the winter. You really do have no sense of humor.

NOpe, your posts just aren't very funny or worthwhile. I have a great sense of humor.

Please put up a warning when linking to WorldNutDaily.

Why?

And here is a critical point. Is the question worthy of discussion, as it has been run through the courts on numerous occasions, and state governments are crafting laws so this doesn't happen again.

Instead of looking at the source and dismissing it, how about looking at the question in question and the activity surrounding it.

McCain seems to have been held to one standard, and Obama another.

Statements by state officials are meaningless. Let's have the hard evidence before the Senate at a minimum... as McCain was forced to do.

Is it asking too much when talking about the the presidency? We do have rules for this, do we not?

PS. At least I will give credit that this hasn't been bumped to conspiracy theories. It's a question of law that seems to be unresolved.

His live birth record doesn't satisfy for some on legal grounds; just as a Canadian Passport isn't a viable primary source of identification to get a Driver's License!!! Who woulda thunk it?

Because they don't pay attention to stupid claims by stupid people.
This should be at the forefront... satisfying the nation that the official running for the presidency is a legal contender.

McCain had to do this before the Senate. But Obama? His status is still in question by a significant portion of the population. If it is easy enough to clarify, then do it. It's not like total idiots have questioned his eligibility to be commander in chief. Some folks with a record of tremendous service to this nation have done so. In one case the court has acted queerly. Denying the defendant access to critical records.

I refer you to the excellent 1990 film MY BLUE HEAVEN in which Rick Moranis plays a tight assed FBI agent named Barney who finally comes out of his shell due to the comedic efforts of Steve Martin... in this scene he is talking with a prospective date

[Barney tells a joke. Everyone laughs, except Hannah]
Hannah Stubbs: I see that it's funny. I have a sense of humor.
Barney: Of course you have a sense of humor. Everyone thinks they do, even people who don't.

In my opinion, Obama is a citizen of the United States. Having said that, I think it is absolutely ridiculous that there isn't a formal process to vet the eligibility of any candidate running for any office in Congress, The White House, and the Supreme Court.

Trust but verify, indeed.

He's probably a citizen, I just think Hawaii could have done better than send out that lame computer produced certification of live birth. I mean where is the one from the early 1960's that would look like a Xerox copy?

McCain had to go through the Senate to be declared a natural born citizen, and there are many who don't believe he was. The law is blurry... but...

...it seems the Obama citizenship question isn't going away, and if some states have their way, he will have to produce the evidence they believe is lacking before the next election.

.

He did not 'have' to go through the Senate. They took it up on their own.

Aspergers.

OK... clarified, but the issue being they took it up. Why not with Obamer?

Because McCain was born in Panama City and Obama Hawaii.

I never understood the McCain debate. Was he not a military dependent born of US Citizens serving over seas under military orders? When I served I understood that children of US Service members born while the parent was under orders, were considered citizens automatically. The only possible exception might be if one parent was not a citizen, but I doubt that to be true.

Well I think that is what they were talking about. Was his parents still there under orders, was he born on a base, was he a citizen of Panama.

His Father was still on active duty and stationed there as far as I remember

Because if you were born in Hawaii and go ask them for a copy of your birth certificate, that's what they'll give you. It is literally proof in a court of law of citizenship.

These people are ridiculous, just for lulz, I should see if I can enter into US politics without ever having to show a birth certificate.

I ran for local political office in 2000 (before moving to Taiwan) and I didn't have to show a birth certificate or any other proof I was a citizen... I merely had to attest to the fact...

you couldn't beat me in checkers let alone chess. and my kid would beat you too

There used to be a web site where you could play chess online. Can't remember where it's at, but if I can find it, would you be interested in playing against me?

Chess.com I used to play there all the time but last time I was there (a few yrs back) it became kind of like the Basement here. Everyone was cussing like it was their first beer. Somehow you would think a chess site would get a better patron.]

But if you join for free you both can play each other.

what's your rating?? If you play you might know the guy who used to beat up on me in college-Evan Michaelides. It wasn't much of a contest he was an IM

I used to be a member of the USCF, and had a rating of 2005, but that was 30 years ago. I am probably a B player right now, as I would guess that my skill level would be around 1700, after not playing for so long. At my best, I did once beat a guy named Englebritzen, who at the time was the resident Master of the Houston Chess Club. I won't mention that I played him more than 50 times..... Oops, I said it. LOL.

that's much better than me-I stopped playing in college when My 1700 or so rating wasn't near good enough to make even our second team-the first team had Rohde, Michaelides, Levy and Tisdale and after Evan and Tisdale (a GM now) we got Joel Benjamin and Mike Wilder. I started playing again because my boy wanted to play.

I never even learned the new notation!

Evan moved to Texas and I heard he's playing again because his kid is pretty good. He graduated with me but originally was in the class ahead of mine (some drunk almost killed him as he crossed a street, and he had to take 5 years to graduate), so I don't see him at reunions.

I am a traditionalist, so while everybody else was using algebraic notation, I was still writing my moves traditionally. LOL. However, I am not into fads. When Fischer was the champion, everybody I knew was playing the Sicilian as black, but I was playing the French Defense. Karpov brought the French Defense back into vogue after Fischer's demise. It is still my favorite opening.

I have a copy of mine from 1959, so you can't tell me that it's impossible.
