There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

Obama was born in America shortly after his parents' spaceship crashed on Oahu. That makes him a citizen.

    It's not just these agencies...

Before a candidate even runs for the presidency, they have to go through their own party verfication process per their party bylaws. I posted exerpts from both on this board long ago. Furthermore, the Constitution gives Congress the right to make laws dealing with records each State is to maintain. Where citizenship verification is concerned, those "records" would be - wait for it...BIRTH CERTIFICATES!

Each State has a recording and verification process in declaring who are their legal residents. The Governor of Hawaii has verified that Pres. Obama's birth records are valid. The 111th Congress has validated not only that Hawaii is this nation's 50th state, but confirms that Pres. Obama was born there. But before even that took place, Congress, via ratifying the votes as cast by the Electoral College, has deemed him eligible to hold the office of the President of the United States for which the People elected him as authorized by the Constitution.

You can't get any more valid than that! But, some people will never give up on their nutjob conspiracy theories no matter how often they're proven to be wrong.

He's already done that at least once.
But why should there be a federal law to verify something that's already being done long before the presidential campaign process even begins?

You folks keep complaining about the government getting too involved where it doesn't belong. IMO, such a law would be senseless because the process that has been in effect for years if not decades has worked! The only way it doesn't is:

    1. If the policial party - in this case the DNC - didn't verify the candidate's citizenship.

    2. The State's don't maintain adequate birth records.

Beyond that, I really don't see why this continues to be a problem for some people.

Fact is, we don't have a formal vetting process. And how ridiculous is that???

BTW, I believe he is a citizen. I argue the point only because the system is flawed.
I agree, people have the right to ask questions on this matter, but once those questions have been answered, i.e., presentation of the Certificate of Live Birth as filed per the laws of the State of Hawaii where the President was born, and as verified by an elected official of the State AND by an individual appointed to maintain said records as appointed by said state official, the issue should be dropped.

But they won't be because some people aren't satisfied with the answers given. They want it done their way as opposed to what the laws of the land requires. So, unless someone can prove that Obama wasn't born here, it's really a moot point. But, as I've said countless times before it wouldn't be difficult to do. Just get one of his family members to request his birth record or bribe someone at the Hawaii Health Department to either obtain a copy or snap a pic from their cell phone and post it. YouTube anyone?

Point being: It's not that difficult to disprove the man's citizenship if people really wanted in on that tidbit of info. Two-years and no one has dared do it?!? In this economic climate!?! I'm amazed!!! (Not really, but...: )

exactly - but this is not about getting an answer... it s about a political campaign to destroy somebody they hate.

100% agree. It's really not about "trust, but verify" (a stupid slogan, BTW; if you trust there's no reason to verify. That's what trusting someone is all about, but I understand the premise behind it), but rather "keep digging until you find something that sticks - anything to bring about doubt in order to discredit".

Seems to be a lot of holes in your theory. It is why Chris matthews pondered why Obama has not come forward and presented this vital and easy to produce document.

The governor has not verified Obama's birth certificate. His certificate has not been seen, as noted by the Gov. of Hawaii... see below.

Legal resident does not mean eligible to be a nominee for president.
