which is ironically delicious.
What's ironic about it?
which is ironically delicious.
exploiting its scantily clad waitresses by subjecting them to leering and groping customers.
The biggest difference being... people listen to the ex-porn star. For example, there are female porn stars who made a career on their attractiveness who, though they still retained their good looks, decided that there was something intrinsically wrong with the porn industry and turned against it.
That undermines the plausibility of the viewpoint that ugly women are the only ones against capitalizing on sexuality.
More attractive people earn more money - Apr. 11, 2005After variables like education and experience are factored out, Fed researchers said the "beauty premium" exists across all occupations, and that jobs requiring more interpersonal contact have higher percentages of above-average-looking employees.
yeesh.
WTF, I always thought they were exploiting men and their inability to use their higher-brain functions when around such women, readily handing out money in a fantasy that the "show" could lead to something more.
As for the T-shirt Future Hooters Girl is tasteless, come on...kids *can* be exploited, and that just smacks of wrongness. But then who are you gonna sue? The parents bought the damn shirt.
Scarily, you're not wrong.Kids are growing up faster nowadays. I wonder how many kids are asking Santa for a blow up doll now, instead of the traditional one?
Should I mention that there was one of that national pool of Hooters girls spending the night here last week? I would make a ****ty Hooters girl, but my nieces partner makes a damn good one.

I don't think Hooters is usually any kind of career choice, but rather an interim job. It just seems funny to me, that in this PC culture where we're supposed to celebrate everyone's choices without making any value judgments NOW has a problem with Hooters. Sounds like simple jealousy to me.
Look, y'all....Hooters is what it is. It's a restaurant with okay food. The prices are a little high for what you get, IMO. The waitresses wear short-shorts and tight tops with some cleavage.
PERSONALLY I'm not that crazy about the place. Sure, the girls are cute, but most of them are young enough to be my daughter, and I find it a little embarassing to have a chick that young leaning in to show me some cleavage in the hope of a better tip. I'm rather conservative socially, ya know.
BUT, It isn't porn, prostitution, or stripping. The costumes aren't really any worse than some HS or College Cheerleader outfits, or things some of your 17-22yo daughters are wearing out to parties. Lots of pretty girls would rather work at Hooters than at McDonald's or Chik-fil-A or Applebees... perhaps it is more fun and I'd bet they get better tips. It's just not that big of a deal.
If I had a daughter who worked at Hooters I'd probably grumble a little about it... because most fathers don't really like to think about their daughters' being viewed with sexual intrest.
I don't think "future hooters girl" is appropriate on a Tshirt for young girls for similar reasons. I wouldn't put one on my little girl... but that's my personal parental choice.
BUT, there are a lot of things that make me uncomfortable or that I think are inappropriate... that DOESN'T mean I think they should be outlawed, legislated against, or sued out of existence in most cases. There's a huge difference between "I'm not comfortable with that" and "I think it should be outlawed or otherwise stopped."
I question NOW's priorities. What about strip joints? If they want to sue someone for "Exploiting" women, why aren't they suing Platinum Plus?
Looks more like a publicity stunt than anything else, if you ask me. NOW has become rather irrelevant and wanted to make some news.
I don't think I would make a good Hooters girl
You realize that most of the girls don't look like that, right? They pick people for pictures like that from a national pool.
That depends on which particular Hooters you are in. I've been in a couple there were staffed entirely by women who looked that good (or better). Maybe it's just a coincidence, but in one those that was full of great looking girls, I got the second-worse service of any restaurant I've ever been in...
Yeah, I've noticed that too. It's like they figure the short-shorts and cleaveage will make up for crappy service. Got a hint for you sweetie: no it doesn't.
I feel sorry for the little girls whose parents would dress them in those shirts... how embarrassing. I don't think that is funny... pretty tasteless, but not illegal. I can't believe those shirts would actually sell..
The girls at Hooters are wearing a lot more than most girls wear at the beach. I just don't see the problem, or how Hooters should be classified as "adult entertainment, no kids". Some of those kids older sisters wear clothing just as bad or worse to school.
I'll grant you the "Future" T-shirts are in poor taste, and I sure as @#$# would not put one on my daughter, if I had a daughter. (Instead I have a teenage son who likes to eat at Hooters. )
Where is the left with their sexual liberation on this? I thought NOW was about liberating women from the Cleaver Family.
It's true, if NOW can't find a legitimate reason to be offended, they'll just manufacture one.NOW continues to demonstrate their irrelevance in modern society. The gender wars are over. The women won. Give it a rest, girls.
