Sen. Ron Wyden Has Early Stage Prostate Cancer, Will Miss Votes

Excerpted from “Sen. Ron Wyden Has Early Stage Prostate Cancer, Will Miss Votes” Posted Thursday, December 16, 2010 5:06 PM | By David Weigel | Slate
Wyden caught the cancer early, but will have to miss votes tomorrow and next week.

    …

Wyden's vote is one Democrats are counting on for tough votes; he's needed to pass the START treaty, the omnibus, and possibly the DREAM Act. According to current vote counts, it would be possible for the Senate to repeal DADT without Wyden's vote -- with the support of key Republicans, vote counters say they're at 61 or 62.
“I scheduled the surgery for the Monday before Christmas anticipating that the Senate would have recessed by that time and that there would be no disruption to my work in Oregon or Washington. However, it now appears that I will be missing votes tomorrow and possibly next week while I prepare and undergo this procedure.” — statement from Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR)Ή

There is never a good time to have prostate cancer, but, rarely does it potentially affect the fates of 300 million people.
“Real environmentalists live in cities, and they visit what's left of the wilderness as gently and respectfully as possible.” — Donna Moulton, letter to the editor, Tucson Weekly, published on August 23, 2001

He's a member of the "other side" to me, but I wish him well and hope he is fully cured.

I read that he will miss Friday for some pre surgery procedures but will be able to attend on the weekend if needed.

Dude all he was saying is that even though they disagree political, he wishes him the best recovery. Don't try and make it into something it isn't.

Dude, what does politics have to do with wishing somebody the best recovery? What's wrong with simply saying "I wish him well and hope he is fully cured" and leaving the politics out of it altogether?
