The article referenced and the original post, both included political matters. Specifically, various items of legislation (most of which I oppose) for which Wyden's vote is desired by those whose political inclinations run in that direction.

It was therefore perfectly reasonable for me to note that my own political inclinations are mostly against these bills, but despite our political differences that I wish the man a full and complete recovery.

My father suffered from prostate cancer in his later years. It is not something I am likely to wish on anybody, and I am most likely to be sympathetic to anyone who has it regardless of political affiliation.

I was, in fact, clarifying that my sympathy towards him had nothing to do with his political leanings, or any desire that he cast "aye" votes on the bills mentioned in the OP (which I oppose), but was instead entirely because he is a human being with cancer.

From what I read the article mentioned politics too, so while I might not have mentioned it, it isn't unreasonable for him to have mentioned it. Besides we are still missing the point that he still wished Senator Wyden the best.

I didn't mean to make a big deal out of this, but sometimes we say or write something that seems to make sense which is ambiguous to somebody else. That was my point. Thank you for clarifying your position.
