With the possibility of prison sentence this was an easier option.
 
I hope all of his property is frozen or returned to his clients.

spouse off in florida
madoff hangs himself with a dog leash
after sending an email suggesting someone needs to check on him

recognize that NO criminal charges had been filed against him

no matter how he became dead that circumstance must weigh heavily on his father ... which is the only good thing to result from this

I understand the sentiment you complain about.

All actions have consequences. Bernie Ponzi ****ed a lot of people who entrusted their wealth, their lives with him. The death of his son is squarely on his shoulders... unless he is totally callous he will be one step from doing like-kind to relieve himself of the pain.

I understand the sentiment of people wanting him to suffer, and strangely... this might be the only way he will be made to taste what others have gone through. Unfortunately, it seems a (supposedly) innocent man paid the price to deliver that suffering.

That's life, and it's the life his sick and selfish father thrust upon him.

bernie did his best to protect his family and friends, but many of them were aware of what was going on.
if they benefitted from Bernies actions, there needs to be compensation.

I bet there are pending actions against both of the brothers, and Mark figured that it was just a matter of time til he was arrested.

This. The SOB knew his day would come for his theivery and took the cowards way out. Of course apart of me doesn't rule out murder and make it look like a suicide.
 
Makes we wonder, tho, how Bernie feels about his son's death, surely he takes some responsibility for it....
