Gov. Gary Johnson: I Smoked Marijuana from 2005 to 2008

Gary Johnson, the former New Mexico governor and a likely 2012 Republican presidential candidate, hasn’t been shy about his support for marijuana legalization or his personal use of the drug during his younger days. “I never exhaled,” he joked in a recent interview with The New Republic. But in an interview with THE WEEKLY STANDARD, Johnson admitted publicly for the first time that he smoked marijuana more recently—from 2005 to 2008—for medicinal purposes, he says.
What refreshing honesty, compared to Bill Clinton's famous remark "I never inhaled". I will closely study his positions, and seriously consider voting for him in the Republican primary, if he runs. He would definitely be a leader in pushing to end the failed and phony War on Drugs, and this is just what America needs.

Its unfortunate that it is a pipe dream for candidates who make as much sense as he appears to -from what little i read in your link- to make it through a primary. His abortion stance, his drug stance and his thoughts on cutting the military budget all are hanging offenses to some. The icing on the cake for me would be a healthy respect and understanding of science, but unfortunately that would also be another potential strike against him for some of the crucial Republican primary voters.

We really do need more viable parties.
