Ron Paul Says We Need More Wikileaks

Ron Paul: ‘What we need is more WikiLeaks’ | Raw Story

I can see Ron's point and out of any Republican the past 10 years he always seems to have a clear cut reason why he thinks the way he does other than trying to sound like he is trying to cover his own ass. He seems to be the ONLY politician period that doesn't ever sound like he is trying to cover his own ass as well.

There is a portion of the libertarian agenda which seeks to damage the very institution of government as much as possible. Ron Paul is one of these folks and he knows well that this entire Wikileak scandal will only diminish the image of government in the eyes of some and possibly move a convert or two a bit closer to his religion.

One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

And once again, I would proudly say, "No, we don't, Ron" or "You are way off base, Ron".

I do not think that is why he wants more leaks at all. Read what he has said first then respond. Ron Paul, despite not agreeing with everything the man says, is pretty sharp and is one of those people that you have to pause, sit back and go "Touche salesman touche." So while I am not sure it is a good idea we get more leaks (I'm indifferent on the entire thing honestly) I like where he is going with this.

Ever seen the new Wall Street movie? While he definately took creative liberties to guess how the financial meltdown bailout sessions between the feds and banks went, the scary thing is, is it probably went something like that if not much worse.

Paul has made a fairly critical error here, turning from arguing that since people should not trust their government, they should seek it harm in its' legitimate functions.

Ron Paul seems to me like a man of integrity. I may not always agree with him, but he has my respect. And he's completely right in this case. Government needs to be held accountable for its actions. It's just fine for them to have all sorts of power, but they have to use it honestly and responsibly. That's the reason we have a free press, and why we promote that ideal. A government that has to keep its actions secret from its people is probably doing things it shouldn't be.

Re: Ron Paul Says We Need More Wikileaks

Like I said Ron Paul is by definition in every shape and form far more conservative than any conservative could hope to be and he is probably the closest thing a conservative will ever have to "the people representing the people" in our lifetime and he is treated like a criminal by both sides of the aisle. While I do not agree that secrets should be leaked, a certain kind of transparency, the kind Paul suggest should be something we all can agree on.

I read the article and I don't see anything wrong with his reasoning.. He doesn't want to hurt or destroy America, he wants us to know the truth.. and I can support that

Re: Ron Paul Says We Need More Wikileaks

Fantastically wrong as he is, Ron Paul seems to be a man of principle.

However, that's only because he has nothing in the way of serious political power. If he ever became a major political player, he would be just as beholden to interest groups and corporate wealth as every other politician.
