As I posted the economy for the 8 years of Bush created 6.5 million jobs and that is after the 2 million jobs lost in 2008. Obama has lost 4 million jobs since signing his stimulus. Maybe that didn't make the Chicago papers.
    My God. Okay. Happy trails.

Letter writer Donald Froelich claims President George W. Bush inherited a recession. This is simply not true. The textbook definition of a recession, universally agreed to by economists, is two consecutive quarters of negative growth in the Gross Domestic Product. That didn't happen until AFTER Bush took office.

As a candidate, Bush told us the economy was so strong that the rich deserved a tax cut. After taking office, he said the economy was weak and a tax cut would fix it. Instead of reducing spending to pay for his tax cuts, Bush increased spending and gave us two unfunded wars. He also initiated the bailouts of Wall Street that so many conservatives are upset about.

Bush's term began with a recession followed by meager economic growth that ended in another recession, while turning a record surplus into a massive debt--and no amount of Republican spin can change that.
You just keep digging that hold deeper, if the recession began in March 2001 what policy did Bush put in place to create that recession and why did the Washington Post get it wrong.

Washington Post: “The last recession may have started in the last months of the Clinton administration rather than at the beginning of the Bush administration. The panel of economists that serves as the official timekeeper for the nation’s recessions is considering moving the starting date for the most recent economic decline back to November or December of 2000, a member of the group said today, confirming a report that appeared in The Wall Street Journal. “

You aren't even reading anymore, are you? Just getting as many talking points in as you can. By any measure, Mr. Bush was a failure. This is foolish. BTW, great plan, that whole Iraq thing. Better than Reagan's Beirut debacle. Beirut only cost us 241 lives. You can't even wage war right.

Most liberals who have become cult followers always run from the facts especially when those facts have non partisan sources attached to them. Interesting how BLS data is not accurate during the Bush years but was during the Clinton years or how the facts show when the Bush tax cuts went into effect which contradict your position. I understand how disappointing it must be for you to realize that you have been lied to but I learned that political parties lie, both of them thus you must "trust but verify." The best place to go for facts are bls.gov, bea.gov, and the U.S. Treasury Dept.which is the checkbook of the U.S.

It probably would be helpful in the future if you didn't act like a flaming leftwing ideologue and actually got the facts. You hated Reagan and Bush, got it, now what else do you have? Chicago sure gave us a great one, didn't they? 3 trillion added to the debt and 4 million more lost jobs, Thanks President Obama. Hope and change we can believe in!

Oh, by the way, here is another non partisan site that you will ignore that shows that meager economic growth.

GDP Growth of 4.5 trillion dollars in 8 years, the highest GDP growth in U.S. history
