Although fixing the economy is the top priority, Republicans who won greater control of state governments in this month's election are considering how to pursue action on a range of social issues, including abortion, gun rights and even divorce laws.

Backlash feared as some in GOP push social issues - Yahoo! News

Throughout the 2010 campaign cycle Republicans promised to cut spending and change the way Washington works if they were elected. The GOP ended up taking back the House of Representatives and gaining six seats in the Senate based upon that promise. Now, just three days after they announced they were going to ban earmarks in the Senate, one Republican Senator is benefiting from a $200 million earmark for his state.

The bill was $0 for Kyl's project and he ended up getting $200 million. Way to be fiscally conservative there.

So more government is bad when it's Democrats doing it and earmarks are only what we decide to call them.

Of course not, that's why we have primaries, so that, you know, a real republican can kick his ass?

It was his states part from this huge settlement for blacks and Native Americans. It's not something he asked for but he sure couldn't refuse it. I don't know why they made it look like an earmark. It's not one. It's been in the making for something like 10 yrs.
