70% of military believe lifting gay ban would have positive influence

I will go with the 4 joint chiefs who are against lifting the ban......The survey sent out was a farce.......It was worded like DADT is a done deal..........Its not........

I love you NP. You argue for the 95% comment by the Marine commander even though it has considerably less validity than the Pentagon survey and then when the Pentagon survey argues a position that you don't like, you argue that it isn't credible. Your whole, "As long as the troops don't care, I don't care" argument was clearly bull**** from day 1 and you continue to be one of the only posters on this forum who continue to try to justify this policy. At this point, you are just copying McCain talking points, and it is so transparent it is sad.

Don't waste your time. He doesn't understand statistics. He could not tell you why a show of hands of a few thousand soldiers at town hall style meetings in front of commanding officers might be a little less valid of a survey method than an anonymous survey of over 100,000 active duty troops.

To get the right results you have to ask the right questions my left wing friend.............The survey did not...........

I believe I responded to this already............

Dude, you have never even read the survey. You don't know what questions they asked or how they asked them. You are just copying McCain. But I'll let you prove otherwise. Here is the actual survey...

Please point out the specific questions you feel are unfair and explain how you feel they are not the "right" questions.

Nobody is buying you bull**** dude. You are an antigay partisan hack who will do whatever he can to argue that gays should not be in the military. It wouldn't matter if 99% of the troops supported it, you would find a way to argue that it shouldn't be repealed because 1% don't.

The bottom line my friend is you and your left wing friends will lose on this issue....You can cry all you want but but you don't have the votes.....Even Hussein Obama is against lifting the ban no matter what he tells you lefties.............

I gave you a chance to point out the questions you disagreed with, you did not point any out, so I guess I'm right. You are just copying McCain talking points. You can't even think for yourself, you have to let McCain do your thinking for you. On top of that, when pressured to actually back up your arguments with facts, you choose to act like the partisan hack that you are and pretend that you can tell the future.

So if the vast majority of the military wants to lift the ban....you don't care about that any longer....now you just want congress not to have the votes.

You are so transparent Navy...

Either way you don't have the votes now so whether the left likes it or not it will continue.....Your buddy Hussein Obama speaks with a forked tongue on the issue...One one hand he is against DADT on the other he directs his justice dept to fight the repeal......Make sure you vote for him in 2012....:)

Except, from what I read, it is not 4 against the repeal. It is 2 absolutely for it, 2 that have concerns but were waiting for the results of the survey, and 1 that was completely against it.

BTW, why does everyone keep bringing up Obama when talking about this and other gay rights issues? First of all, I didn't vote for the man. In fact, I think he's not that great of a president. However, on this particular issue, it is easily argued that McCain would have been a much worse choice, since he is one of the leading Reps. against the repeal. I could care less what the president does, as long as Congress gets off its butt and changes what needs to be changed. I highly doubt that Obama would veto a repeal of DADT, or DOMA for that matter. McCain, if he were president, I'm not so sure about.

So the thread about the 90% of troops who love DADT is a lie? Nothing but the homophobic ramblings of a retired general who hasn't seen action this century? It figures.

The far left thinks they can't be wrong so it must be a lie..........

Majority of military heads and "ecperts"? One a different thread poll, 95% of said military is not comfortable with it' probably because of the perverse nonsense happening in Britain. Also, you say those Republicans are just biased, but you forget half of the nation.

First of all, that 95% was a specific group of Marines, asked during a open meeting by the Marine Cmdt. This has been covered before. You are using wrong, if not completely untruthful, wording when you say "95% of the military". A specific group of Marines (at least some of whom raised their hands were probably just going along with the crowd) is not the entire Marine Corps, let alone the entire military.

Second of all, most polls show that a majority of Americans want a repeal, including a majority of Republicans.

Americans Support Repeal of ?Don?t Ask Don?t Tell?

So, if all the Republicans in Congress right now vote against a repeal, against the wants of the majority of their constituents and a majority of the military and no evidence to support their claims that gays serving openly will affect unit cohesion, morale, or discipline, then those Republicans are voting based on their own biases rather than what the people want.

As things stand now, no one knows if DADT repeal can be passed. Next week the DoD will make it's presentation to Congress, and until we know what the presentation recommends, it is impossible to say for sure how any vote will fall out. If, and this is certainly possible, maybe likely, the DoD says that DADT can safely be removed and now is the time to do so, it would be hard to vote against such a repeal even for republicans. Conversely, if the DoD says now is not the right time, it would be hard to vote for a repeal of DADT. Suggesting there are not enough votes to pass a repeal when the report many are waiting on the decide their position on the issue is silly.

McCain and the people in the congress who support him believe the wrong questions were asked on the survey.......The left did not have the votes the first time and things will be even worse with Conservatives like Manchin from West Va. a very strong conservative and the other senator from Ill. who will be seated immediately making it even harder for repeal......

You are at best in deep kimchee..........

Dozens of questions where asked in the survey and the survey is only a small part of the DoD review.

On the other hand.

Matter of time, my right-wing friend.

Continue inching closer to your socialistic democracy.

What the **** does DADT have to do with socialism?

You don't think these issues are caught up in one great web? Oh ho, they are. Besides, I responded to the 2 posts before my latter one.

I see. Gays are all socialists and once they infiltrate the military Obama will pass an amendment declaring himself Dear Leader and suspending all elelctions. I never saw it until now.

In no way are LGBT issues, and socialism connected.
