70% of military believe lifting gay ban would have positive influence

I knew 2 gay guys when I served who where serving. They did not threaten any ones junk. Even if DADT is repealed, they will still not be able to threaten your junk.

I just re-enlisted and this is a piece of good news. :)

I hope they send me to Korea and be able to eliminate some Koreans for a change.

Betcha there were straights discharged for making unwanted advances towards those of the opposite sex, too. Thing is, NP, this is a behavor that is about the individual, not the group. It's like guns. Should we ban guns because a few idiots use them illegally? No, we ban the illegal behavior. Do all people who use guns use them illegally? No, just the idiots. Just like unwanted advances are banned in the military. It's the behavior that a few idiots do that gets them banned. It's not their sexual orienation.

Very few women served at sea when I was in so I can't really respond to that......In any case women and men had relationships and unless there was abuse of some time it was not a problem.........Men serving at sea for long periods of time with other men they are sexually attracted to is a problem.......I don't even blame the gay guys for making the advances...Even myself if I served on a ship with all females and was at sea for long periods of time, dressing, showering, sleeping in close quarters I doubt very seriously if I could control myself.........

OK... that makes sense. I wasn't sure what it was like, then.

I don't know, NP. I think you are overreacting to this. I know that I have interacted with a lot of gay guys. I've only been hit on once, and when I turned them down, they were fine with it. People have self-control. Those that don't have a problem regardless of their sexual orientation.

It's a common view among guys like NP that gays are somehow not able to control themselves like a human being.

1. You have to ask the right questions my left wing friend.....

2. I support gays now in most cases just not serving openly in the military and gat marriage..........

BS Navy....you are the most anti-gay person on this site. You don't support days in any cause....unless they remain in the closet and "act straight in public".
I can't believe that you actually even wrote that.

Actually, this is another contention of unfairness. Gays that make unwanted advances face punishment plus discharge. Straights that make unwanted advances only face punishment. Usually that punishment is no more severe than most other punishments for minor offences, NJP, unless the unwanted advancement was an actual sexual assault.

Perhaps you shouldn't equate and judge other people by what YOU would do Navy......most men...straight or gay are able to control themselves. Most men, straight or gay don't go around sexually abusing other people because they don't know how to control their hormones. Most men...straight or gay also don't sleep with other guys spouses...so judging others by your standards appears to be where the flaw in your argument is.

Well today we got another vote in the senate against the repeal of DADT when Senator Kirk from Illinois was sworn in........You did not have the votes before that you sure don't have them now.

Kirk's arrival boosts GOP - Scott Wong - POLITICO.com

And though he considers himself a social moderate, he’s expected to vote no on two bills Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said he would try to pass in the lame duck: the immigration-related DREAM Act and the defense authorization bill that includes language to repeal the military’s ban on openly gay service members, the latter of which Kirk voted against while serving in the House.

"We" being the homophobic minority who oppose the wishes of 70% of the serving military?
