SheWolf;1059107436]I don't agree with Conservatives on a lot of things, like social issues. What's wrong with being an Independent?
Nothing, but that doesn't make you right.

You said Bush stabilized the banks with tarp.. Post 104. Government intervention and bailing out the reckless saved the banks, according to you... Post 104!
Right, keep ignoring that I also said that economists made that claim and that is what I stand by. Obama claims he brought us back from the brink, by doing what?

So the media was blowing things out of proportion when the economy was bad when Bush was in charge, but when Obama took over.. then the economy really is on the brink!!! OMG!
The numbers didn't show an economy that bad. according to the media we were in a recession most of the Bush term so finally it happened due to the financial crisis. Do actual results actually matter to you? GW Bush economy added 4.5 trillion to the GDP, the highest dollar amount ever added to GDP, From 2001 through 2007 Bush economy created 8.5 million jobs and he inherited a recession, had 9/11, and then had the financial meltdown. Those are the facts that you want to ignore. Get the facts as they make you look less foolish except to liberals who always ignore facts. Independents get the facts, you seem to be buying the rhetoric yet claim you are an independent. There is nothing independent about your rhetoric.

Obama did do jack to save the economy.. The same type of jack, Bush did to save the economy; bailouts and stimuls. The question isn't weather or not he did ANYTHING, but weather or not he did the RIGHT things.
As you stated Obama hasn't done anything that you like yet you claim he did something to save the economy so what was it? What bailout did Obama do that saved the economy? Economists think it was TARP which again was a Bush program. Why don't economists credit Obama?

If you are so convinced that you are right, then why is it so d**n hard to enlighten me right here on this board? Why should I have to go to this and that website, and read and read until I am convinced you are right?

    That is weak!
Facts matter, not rhetoric, get those facts from non partisan sites instead of partisan ones. bea.gov, bls.gov, and the U.S. Treasury are non partisan and have the data that refute your rhetoric about Bush accomplishments and support my position regarding Obama's results.

If you are trying to convince me of something, you have to present the facts and the argument yourself..

I have talked to you in other threads. I know you make big claims and loosely cite things is speech but never post links, even when pressed to do so..
    [/QUOTE]

I have given you the sites, bea.gov, bls.gov, and have actually posted spreadsheets from those sites. I had hoped you would go to the sites and explore it because when I post the actual links they get ignored. You want GDP growth, that is at bea.gov, you want employment that is bls.gov, you want spending, that is at bea.gov and the U.S. Treasury Department. If you don't like the Bush numbers how can you not just hate the Obama numbers?

Tell me what numbers you want and I will educate you further.

You want links, here, have at it, have fun, study, compose any chart you want from the data available. Anyway you cut it, the Obama record so far is a disaster and the Bush record is quite different than portrayed by any anti Bush media and those here with BDS.

    BLS link, create own chart
Employment, Hours, and Earnings from the Current Employment Statistics survey (National)

    BEA links GDP and Receipts/Expense
U.S. Department of Commerce. Bureau of Economic Analysis

    U.S. Treasury
Current Report: Combined Statement of Receipts, Outlays, and Balances of the United States Government (Combined Statement): Publications & Guidance: Financial Management Service

Both parties have been WRONG in the past. No party is RIGHT all the time. It's a matter of opinions.. You have no respect for differing views. You are out of touch with reality if you think this is about wrong and right, and not figuring things out as a country and IMPROVING.

I don't have to account for Obama..

So do you think TARP worked or not?

Do you think the economy has improved or not?

We aren't talking about the Bush economy.. we are talking about the recession and role of TARP. Stop trying to distract and turn everything into more and more partisan hackery. Just stay on topic please.

I have already answered this question... extension of TARP, the stimulus package, and bailing out the auto industry. That is what he DID. Weather or not it WORKED, is a different issue.

Again.. we are not talking about GDP growth under Bush. We are talking about TARP and the current economy.

Totally agree, but question whether or not the economy is improving enough to fund the massive spending that Obama has generated. Any idea how much a 13.7 trillion dollar deficit is? What is the debt service and how is it being funded?

So do you think TARP worked or not?
Don't really know, banks still are lending, foreclosures are still occurring, heard that the next round could be a disaster. Economists say it did but I just don't know, not sure I buy it but then again I lived and worked through the 81-82 recession and it was much worse than this one, Imagine paying 20% interest rates on a home mortgage?

Do you think the economy has improved or not?
We are out of recession if that is what you mean, but there are more unemployed today than when Obama took office and unemployment is higher each month of 2010 than it was in 2009 the last year of the recession. So based upon actual results, the economy is better but the money spent on the stimulus was wasted and the economic growth is meager. My own opinion is the economy has a long way to go and has to generate enough jobs to fund the debt and that is going to be hard to do based upon the Obama policies. It is amatuer hour in the WH and the American taxpayer has to fund it.

We aren't talking about the Bush economy.. we are talking about the recession and role of TARP. Stop trying to distract and turn everything into more and more partisan hackery. Just stay on topic please.
You claimed the Bush economy was a disaster and I gave you the links in another post that will prove you wrong. Check out the numbers and you can go back to the entire Bush years and compare them to the numbers now and you tell me.

I have already answered this question... extension of TARP, the stimulus package, and bailing out the auto industry. That is what he DID. Weather or not it WORKED, is a different issue.
Why did TARP have to be extended since the recession ended in June 2009. What purpose does that serve. The stimulus package bailed out unions and other Democrat contituent groups and failed. Do you realize that Ford wasn't bailed out and did quite well. Do you think the collapse of GM/Chrysler would have destroyed the U.S. economy? This was nothing more than a bailout of the union and their contracts. Let me know when the taxpayer gets repaid for that bailout and then tell me how you feel about China and the Middle East owning 45 million shares of the new GM?

Again.. we are not talking about GDP growth under Bush. We are talking about TARP and the current economy.

Again, I gave you the numbers on TARP, it was 700 billion dollars passed and signed in October 2008. Bush spent 350 billion and left 350 billion for Obama. Obama spent about 150 billion of it and blamed Bush for the deficit yet never told you that much of the TARP funding has been repaid which should have reduced the deficit but didn't.Where did the money go? As for the economy, check out the economic growth and job creation and you will answer your own question about the state of the economy. It only cost over a trillion dollars to generate those numbers. It is only money right?
