We have a few natural gas vehicles running around town, operated by the local branch of the gas utility. As I understand it they have a range of about 40 miles, which is not enough to get me to any of my favorite fishing spots, much less get back. As an idea, it needs lots of work.

Natural gas, nuclear energy, and very soon, solar will be able to meet a large part of our energy needs. All we need is the will to become energy independent.
Gas for heating and nuclear for electricity make sense. Solar will never do any more than it does now, which is heat home swimming pools. The state fish hatchery at Ennis, MT, got $60,000 in federal stimulus money to install solar panels which will (maybe) save them $1,500 per year. At that rate, it will take 40 years to justify the initial cost. However, solar panels only have a life expectancy of 15 years (or 25, according to reports of the newer models). It is expenditures like this that got the Dems thrown out in the last election.

Exactly! I won't be buying or holding airline stocks for a while. The fallout from the Thanksgiving travel season should be interesting.

And thanks for returning to the original topic of the thread.

Correct, but on the other hand, the corn growers in the Midwest are great at contributing to the right campaigns.

Right, as in correct, or right, as in GOP?

Meanwhile, back to the original topic...

The publicly announced TSA procedures, which claim that images are not saved, are now revealed as so much bull ****. From One Hundred Naked Citizens: One Hundred Leaked Body Scans:

At the heart of the controversy over "body scanners" is a promise: The images of our naked bodies will never be public. U.S. Marshals in a Florida Federal courthouse saved 35,000 images on their scanner. These are those images.

"Unreasonable" seems to be the word of the day. Is it unreasonable to search your bags? No! Is it to scan your body with an X-Ray when the same can be accomplished by other less invasive means? Probably, and will ultimately end up in court somewhere.

Me.. Well I don't care frankly. I'm one of those "Makes me feel safer", types.

    Tim-
If it makes you "feel" safer, that's what is really important.

It doesn't make me feel any safer to know that the government requires that my wife and daughter either be groped or photographed naked by some high-school dropout simply because they have the audacity to want to fly an airplane.

And if anyone can think of an alternative method of traveling to China, I'm all ears.

And I can fully respect your view on the matter. Like I said, for me, I am not as ridgid on my viewpoint, and I understand the reasoning, and accept them at face value. I don't belivee there is a built in ulterior motive to abuse the screening process, so, as most conservatives, I generally believe that most people are good, and not inherenatly bad.

That said, I do see that this is going to eventually go to court, and be challenged. I repeat though, I also believe you have a right to say no.

The real problem is that what is considered "reasonable" has migrated a long way from where it once was. Twenty years ago the idea of being basically stripped naked just to get on board a plane would definitely be unreasonable. But now, due to the circular reasoning by the SC, this will probably pass muster as being reasonable because now we all expect it. Thus, my right to object to the search is gone.
