Acting like bin Laden is some type of leader of the Muslim faith is like saying Fred Phelps, Rev Jim Jones, and Church of Jesus Christ-Christian (Aryan Nation) accurately represent the Christian faith.. atrocities can be committed in the name of any religion. If you really look into the history of American slavery, you'll find all kinds of examples of preachers using verses from the bible to justify slavery and control slaves through religion... the Moron church is especially controversial (even with their beliefs towards Native Americans)..

Why was Pius XII accused of being Hitler's Pope? Why was "God with us" inscribed on Nazi belt buckles and other Nazi propaganda?

The debate is endless..

Stop acting like one religion is pure and free of guilt... every religion has bad people and good people. Pitting one religion against the other isn't solving any problems, it's making them worse.

I am a Reformed Calvinist Protestant. we reject the Catholic Church and during the reformation we extricated ourselves from it. You can read about it i any history book about it. We were persecuted by the Catholics.

Eh, I respect Atheists attacking all religions alot more than some Christians who just attack Islam only and conveniently forget their own religions history. I don't mind. I just laugh quietly to myself and take their point with a pinch of salt :shrug:

I know a few Calvinists.. I know you believe that when he die, we go to Heaven or Hell.. and we have no control over it. It's pre destination, right?

I am not down with that.. IDK why. It just doesn't seem like it makes sense to me
 
This argument is absurd. Cousin marrying was routine in civilizations worldwide because it manipulated marriage and property laws in a way that enabled one to keep possessions within the family. It persisted in Europe even through the 19th century. Not to mention most populations consisted of a couple dozen families (if even that many) trapped within a geographically confined parameter for thousands of years. All modern humans are the product of near countless generations of repetitive incest. If it's been somewhat more severe in a certain region of the world for a few more centuries, it is unlikely to make a significant difference -- we're talking about tens of thousands of years. The idea we should marry "away" from the family is a recent one resulting from a society with enough excess property to indulge its artificially generated squeamishness.

I wasn't aware being a true Christian involved persecution from the flock. You'll find no story of Jesus turning an individual away from him or telling a parable of people leaving him. And likewise God has no given you the power or authority to determine you're own godliness or that of others, that judgment lies entirely with him.

You're fond of quoting the Bible, trying this one on for size. Matthew 7:1-6

1 “Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. 3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
6 “Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.

Also you're wise as serpents quotation could use a little context.

16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Are you saying that Christians are not persecuted? Christians are executed for BEING CHRISTIAN in Islamic countries. And Jesus warned us about 'false prophets' and Mohammed was a false prophet. He never said we weren't supposed to judge whether or not a prophet was false. Quite to the contrary.

You addressed a point I didn't make. I'm talking about your personal beliefs and this smug attitude of yours that you somehow have a right to judge others for their beliefs, and that you're better than the rest of us because you know what "true" Christianity is. I'm also talking about your bizarre reading of the Bible and how you interrupt its message, as well as pick and choose from among them. Now I won't claim I have all the answers to life and that I can judge you from the perspective of God, as you've already done to billions of other people, by declaring there is no godliness in Islam or that Catholics are not true Christians. These are things God reserves the judgment of to himself.

What really gets me angry is that smugness and sureness you have, that you're better than everyone else even though you're human just like the rest of us.

I do wish I could but my religion teaches me to not be vain and humble about what my God has blessed me with and I happen to actually follow my religions teaching :2wave:

I will say that my religion is superior: it is the ONLY TRUE FAITH.
Islam is the most ungodly abomination in the world. Every other religion in the world strives to make better people of it's adherants, even false ones.
Not so Islam. They call us Kuffar and want to kill us all.
CHRISTIANS AND JEWS ARE GOD'S CHILDREN AND GOD SAYS:

Maybe that's why Islamic nations are totalitarian regimes where personal freedoms are non-existant.

These things are all Biblical and accepted by Christians world-wide.

Islam is a false religion. We had a reformation because the Catholic church is corrupt and idolaters among other things.
