95% of Marines uncomfortable serving with openly gay troops

The issue is their civil rights, not the homophobic fantasies of the unenlightened.

when you sign that enlistment contract you are signing away many of your civil rights. Serving in the military shouldn't be about soldier's civil rights, it should be about what is best for the military and the country.

My Way News - Pentagon study dismisses risk of openly gay troops

Nov 30, 1:16 PM (ET)

By ANNE FLAHERTY

WASHINGTON (AP) - A Pentagon study on gays in the military has determined that overturning the law known as "don't ask, don't tell" might cause some disruption at first but would not create any widespread or long-lasting problems.

The study was expected to provide some much-needed ammunition to congressional Democrats struggling to overturn the law. But despite supporters' hopes to force a vote during the lame-duck legislative session, it remains unclear whether the findings would be enough to sway skeptical Republicans, led by Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

That's the way I see it. Don't ask, don't tell is BS anyway. most of the time if there is a gay dude/girl in the unit someone, if not everyone, is going to know/find out and most people really don't give a ****. I have been in the military since 1984 and I can count on one hand the number of times someone's being gay has caused any disruption/problems at all.

That said, I still disagree with the "it's about their civil rights" arguement. Serving in the military isn't about civil rights, it's about the good of the country. Gays serving openly will not harm that in any measureable way.

The only idiots who will be bothered by openly gay people serving are the same retards who still call blacks "nigger" behind closed doors and treat women like sex dolls. Those are the dip****s that should be prevented from serving.

I believe allowing open gays in the military will add to their demands and make them even more arrogant. It will bring hate speech into the military and gays hitting on straight people. This will open Pandora's box to all kinds of new problems

Um, you are concerned about gays hitting on straights? I think your bigotry is showing.

Seems to me the military has a much bigger problem with straights hitting on straights. Following this logic, prehaps we should flush out all women (or all men) from the military or at least extend "Don't ask, don't tell" to all sexuality. If anyone shows themselves as sexual, they get washed out....

When I think of gays, I always think of arrogance....

Which will not be enough. There will always be more just like civil unions will never be good enough. They will cause their own problems by bragging and hitting on straight men

Instead if don't ask don't tell is over turned then affairs and officers dating enlisted should also be allowed without punishment

Inorite!? Thank god for the humility of straight men, I tell you what. Those darn gays. They give me nosebleeds. Troof.

I knew straight guys who hit on other guys (gay and straight) while in the military. They were doing it for fun and in many cases, to get a rise (aggressively, not sexually) out of the other guy. A lot of the guys I knew would purposely act "gay" around any guy that they knew was very conservative. Because they knew it would upset the guy. I don't know of any time where even one of the dozen or so openly gay men in my department actually hit on a straight guy, even if it was to just upset the guy, except maybe if they were going along with one of the straight guys who were trying to upset another guy.

I see it. Usually from the anti gay protesters waving their signs that say "God hates fags".

god does hate fags, so does the FCC. you haven't been able to advertise them in ages. I can remember seeing the "I'd walk a mile for a camel" fag ads. and that marlboro man was a real macho fag sucker.

You just reminded me of George Carlin, sex in advertising.

"I'd walk a mile for a camel." <sidelong look>

"But wouldn't you really rather have a Buick?"

What a load of crap. That is not funny but it is disgusting

Yep, I really like to wrap my lips around a fag and give the butt a few flicks.

I stopped smoking fags when I got home from Iraq. promised myself and the wife if I made it through another tour I would quit.

Yes, I do deny arrogance. Asking to be treated like other people is not arrogance. I also have a fairly good idea what will happen in the military. Arrogance is not it.

Would you take your kids to this?

MOD EDIT: link removed

You think but there will be consequences if gays flaunt what the do
