Teacher forces students to learn the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish

A lot of posters here are globalists as well as some so-called conservatives. So they are not bothered with national anthem being sung in Spanish so they will most likely no care if our Pledge of Allegiance is recited in Spanish. Those people would sell their grandmother down the river or their soul to the devil if it mean they could save a few dollars at Walmart or some other store. A country's national anthem and Pledge of Allegiance should only be sung in its native language.
I only was able to get 29 pieces of silver for my maternal grandmother today when I sold her down the mighty Mississip. And when I got home I found that I that the man in the coon skin cap by the pig pen wanted 11 pieces but I only had ten. So you can imagine the delight my heart took when I read about the extra-insidious middle school Spanish teacher's clever plot to unravel our republic by asking students to translate a piece of text that each of the students was intimately familiar with--the pledge of allegiance.
'Cause there is nothing, and I mean not a thing, that will bring America to her knees faster than that. I expect that the National Guard will be called out by midnight. But they'll be powerless. No one can stop the teacher's insidious plan now that it has been unleashed. Tomorrow we will wake in a godless fundamentalist Islamo-Communist-Nazi socialist anarchy that used to be America.
All because of that one assignment in that one middle school Spanish class.

Step One: Assign the translation of the Pledge of Allegiance to students in a foreign language class
Step Two: ???
Step Three: The downfall of the world's sole super power.

Step two is the part about grandmothers, they are the cornerstone of our national security.

We teach foreign language the wrong way in this country, teaching it in high school, is really dumb.It should be taught in elementary school, but anyways this is actually a good way to teach them the language, they already know it by heart, so the only variable is the new language.

The only problem with that is that some kids have a hard time mastering the English language for various reasons even if their parents speak English. Adding another language at that age completely confuses them and makes it even harder to learn to read, write and speak in English.

I don't have a problem with making it an option for a Spanish class in elementary school. I don't think the whole day should be taught in Spanish, it should just be a one class a day thing if the parents agree to it.

If this was Social Studies, I'd be annoyed.

But if I understand rightly, this is IN SPANISH CLASS. I took spanish in high school. As I recall, we were required to speak Spanish in class and learn spanish phrases, how shocking. I don't remember whether we learned to do the Pledge in spanish or not, it's been a while, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Maybe this is not in good taste, but it isn't exactly a Constitutional crisis.

Of course it should be only one class in the day. It is just so much easier for people to learn another language while you are young, instead of in high school, when your brain isn't as capable of learning another language.

He didn't say the whole day should be taught in Spanish. And if some of the kids can't keep up with it, for whatever reason, doesn't mean we shouldnt prepare those who can keep up for the world and future carrers with a second language as best we can.

No, it really doesn't. Young children can learn more than one language easily. Far more easily than adults, in fact. The younger, the better, when it comes to language.

Yep, this was my whole point. Teaching language in high school is harder on the student, than teaching it in elementary school.

Saying the pledge of allegiance is considered patriotic, saying it in another language other than english is totally unpatriotic. It just like the Star spangled banner, it should only be said in English which is our country's language is despite what some globalist who laugh at patriotism may think.

So you would be happy if they sung the star spangled banner in English?

Shouldn't we sing it in British since that is where the music actually came from?

Is the content of the Pledge the important part, or is the language spoken the important part?

You know, whenever I want to scoff at the notion that opposition to illegal immigration is rooted in racism, something like this comes along. I know not all people who take issue with illegal immigration are close minded bigots (I'm one of them in fact), but this clearly shows that some are.

I could see this being an issue in a social studies class or something, but this is SPANISH CLASS. The object of the class is to teach students to speak SPANISH. Why not use the pledge? The ideals and the respect for our nation and heritage embodied in the pledge are far more important than the language they are spoken in. Heck, I'd be happy to hear the pledge spoken in any language, since the ideals are what real patriotism is rooted in.

It should be recited in Iroquois! English was the language of those damned British oppressors!

^ For the Creoles - who have every bit as much right to their heritage and language as the English speakers (so to do the residents of New Mexico and Arizona that have indigenous Spanish speaking ancestry there that goes back hundreds of years prior to the formation of our country even.)

It's impossible for someone to be a patriot and to think that it's an acceptable assignment?
If someone thinks it's acceptable assignment they must be a globalist (w/e you mean by that term)?

I can't speak for anyone else, but my happiness is independent of anybody singing the Star Spangled Banner w/o regard to the language. YMMV.

The pledge of allegiance was written by a socialist and included the well known Bellamy salute......

Nationalism was in good taste until WW2 and then it became un-American. As far as I'm concerned it still is, especially by those who claim to be "patriots".
