And that's based on .. nothing. How is your view superior to mine again? I don't mind questioning things, but when you go overboard and start making frothy accusations about this guy who you don't know, never saw, and then start attacking the people here because we're not agreeing with your paranoid biased opinion, we're the suckers. Do ya listen to yourself at all? Call me crazy, but before I judge others and pass judgement I like to see something convincing other than just my own blathering biased opinion.

So before I jump on your bandwagon, I need more than just your say so. Got it?
I wanted to contribute but you and Patriot beat me do it. There's really nothing left to say to convince him.

Even if he was a Bush supporter and was wearing "I love Bush" shirt. I still don't see why he should loose his job. The company/union should only care about his job performance, not his political opinions. Also, it's kind of hypocritical. They cannot fire people for doing a bad job, but they can fire a person for his political opinions.

I think it's because the far left in practice doesn't support free speech. For instance at one of the biggest socialist forum. RevLeft, they only allow certain opinions and even ban users who are socialists, but not the right type. Another reason, why I don't like unions.

I don't know. Since the situation never happened, I find it all for naught to speculate and conclude that said worker would have suffered the same fate. The issue is the firing of a man who revered his son's service and had every right to wear what he was wearing.

So my question is to you: what is your answer to a purely diversionary and unprovable scenario?

Losing his job was his choice.

And you are making an assumption that he just wore the shirt to honor his son and he had no idea that it would cause a commotion.
You already jumped on the bandwagon. Hilarious.

Unions can fire anybody they want for any reason they want. It's the people who pay their salaries who can't fire union workers. Did you forget that?

I beg to differ. Let's use the analogy of a person being told to have sex with his/her employer or lose his/her job. The employee refuses and loses his/her job. Is that the choice of the employee? Sexual harassment laws aside, the employee is put into a position that offends the senses and violates the reasonable expectation to work in an environment that is free of conditions that are not germane to the job description.

The man in the union was there to perform a task, not appease the union boss's sense of what he deemed to be offensive clothing.

Well, that can debated, but I believe it is stupid and immoral to fire a person for his political opinions, but I think they should be allowed to fire him.

But unions don't. They want to make it illegal to fire people, but when someone disagrees with them then they don't hesitate to fire the person. That makes them hypocrites.

But, this is a boat named after a former president. No where close to being the same thing.

It's idiotic to suggest there is something wrong with wearing a t-shirt, that sports the name of a United States naval vessel, at a political rally. Anybody's political rally.

He wasn't fired? So he's still working then?
