Obama: Republicans Counting On Blacks Staying Home

what the **** does that have to do with anything? the way I see it, the only reason to vote Dem is if you either a. like paying high taxes or b. you are a freeloader and don't have to pay taxes

You know what I really would like to tell you a few things, but I believe that is what you want me to do. The best thing for me to do is pray for you and people who think like you. It is extremely sad that southerner like yourself find it very amusing to take shots at us like this.

how am I taking a shot at you? if you are middle class, you obviously must have a job and you pay taxes. that in and of itself is enough reason to vote PUB. The fact that you happen to be a minority is irrelevent, unless YOU chose to make it so. You asked for a reason and I gave you a reason. sorry if I confused you by phrasing my answer in the form of a question. there was no intent to imply that you did not have a job.

And before you start insinuating that I am a racist...pehaps you might want to take a look around the forum and notice my references to and pictures of my two adopted sons that happen to be black.

that would be mighty funny now wouldn't it??? a white racist adopting two young black boys.
 
This goes down as a thing that while true, is just stupid to say. Sadly President Obama seems to have a habit of doing stuff like this.
 
If anything, it shows growing awareness of how the electorate works. The overwhelming majority of the people who would be offended by these comments (conservatives) aren't going to vote Democrat anyway. Even swing voters who might be offended are going to cast their ballots based on different considerations. Meanwhile, if Obama appeals to the black demographic, he might galvanize them.

The potential loss is small, the potential gain is large.

The Republican Party operates on a similar principle when it comes to offending people. Party loyalty is conditioned to a good extent among the electorate, so it isn't about convincing people who they need to vote for so much as that they need to vote.

Why would I think you racist lets see:

1) From one of your previous post, you think that blacks who support the POTUS is ignorant and stupid.

2) I took the last statement you made as sarcasm towards blacks because lets be honest, many racist white believe that most blacks refuse to work and live off the government. If you are sincere then I apoligize. But honestly, how would you have taken those staements if you were me?

On a side note, I commend you for adopting 2 black kids. However, I hope that you realize that you have a responsibility to teach them to have pride in themselves as young black men.

correction, I think that anyone who supports Obama is ignorant and stupid. race doesn't factor in. whites and latinos who support Obama are just as stupid as blacks. :lamo

I am teaching them to have pride in themselves because of their character and accomplishments. to me, the color of someone's skin is irrelevent. I see no sense in taking pride in something that you have no control over.

that said, we do make every effort to ensure their education includes "culturally relevant topics"

Voting for Obama does not make me or anyone else stupid or ignorant. However, I do question the intelligence of any one who voted for a vice presidential candidate who can't answer simple questions like what magazines she reads :)

When my 10 yr old and I discussed Dr. King's 'I have a Dream' speech on his holiday, I asked him if people should be treated differently because of their skin color. He said, 'No... it doesn't matter. If you're nice, you're nice. If you're mean, you're mean. Having brown or white skin doesn't change that, so why should it change how your treated?'

I just looked up and said "he 'gets' it", and smiled.
