Smokers Beware! Proposed New York City Smoking Ban Targets Outdoor Facilities

No, the attitude that got smoking banned from private establishments was the holier-than-thou ***** attitude of people who couldn't accept personal choice. There is no just reason to infringe upon property rights the way that anti-smoking POS law went ahead and did. If people can't accept the responsibilities of freedom, I say get out of the gene pool.

Try it is more like smokers can't exercise personal responsibility and respect the fact that the MAJORITY of the people around them are NOT addicted to a poisonous weed...

If I am enjoying myself with my family, we are settled down, enjoying a dinner or a conversation, why should WE have to move because an addict who is a slave to a weed decides to light up? I love how people say smokers have rights, but your rights end where they meet my nose. Nicotine is a known poison. Right, POISON. You are defending the right of people to casually spread poison in public areas. Sorry, I have absolutely NO sympathy for those people, NONE AT ALL... and if you can't accept restrictions to shield the rest of us from your slavery to the weed, then ban it...

If you sat down with your friends where a smoker could come along and smoke then you no doubt went to a SMOKING restaurant. If you don't want that to happen then you do have a choice of going to a NON-SMOKING restaurant. You chose to go there. You had a choice. Anyone with any sense of self-responsibility would take that action and blame no one but themselves.

Sorry, I have no sympathy for people that go to a smoking restaurant and then have the nerve to ***ch about it. If you can't accept your own responsibility to yourself then you deserve to be ignored.

They also no longer have the money to do so due to excessive fines and punishments associated with DUI. Thanks MADD...flipping PETA of the drunk driving world.

Are you actually defending drunk drivers? You think people have the right to drive drunk? And you wonder why the government has to step in and protect those of us who make responsible decisions from people who won't make responsible decisions...

How do you feel about perfume? The stuff makes me sneeze like crazy.

sneeze? sorry, but I love it when smokers bring up perfume... cigarette smoke is a POISON to EVERYONE!!! Perfume makes you sneeze... sorry if I am not all that sympathetic by comparing that to a known POISON

Smokers should no more be burdened with these type of things, if we aren't going to do it to everyone.

Except that I am forced to breathe in your smoke if you do it in my vicinity... I don't seriously think you should ban the obese from the beach as it only is objectional to my eyes and has no impact on my own health...

But the diesel is regulated as is the pollution emitted from them -- though I support stronger restrictions... furthermore, those vehicles serve a vital purpose to society, which smoking does not... but, if we want to ban diesel vehicles, or all pollution emmiting vehicles, I am sure I would get along better than most... I would have no problem getting on my bike every day to the countryside to get veggies and other foods or to work or to other places to get daily necessities... could you do that? I suspect most smokers could not do that so well and the Americans who are so fat that they can't even see their feet would not fare so well either... so BRING IT ON!!!

I wish we could ban bicycles from the road.
Your recreation gets in the way of my need to get places.
I used to have your ilk come down my old country road and not get the heck out of the way.

I'd so love you banners to get a taste of your own medicine.

First off, nicotine isn't the poison. Nicotine actually has numerous health benefits. It's the tar and other crap in cigs that "poison".

Secondly, if you willingly choose to go into an establishment that allows smoking, then that's all on you bud. If you don't want to be around smokers, don't go into places smoking is allowed.

But no, people like you can't be that responsible. You have to actually have the government make those decisions for you.

Allergic reactions can be fairly serious.

BTW I'm a former smoker but not a smoking nazi

No ****. My allergic reaction cause migraines and can put me out of commission for days.

Some allergic reactions can actually kill people.

Nah....you just want it hidden like they use to do with lepers.

Yep, right along with the Welfare Queens and the absurdly obese...

As for the "captive children" bit? My dads father smoked since before my dad was born. My dad smokes and has since I was born. (I'm 35 and my dad is 66) Neither one of them had/has lung cancer. Neither do I. I left some links about the EPA and their "study" in my last post...I'd suggest ya read it before ya believe all the hype about second hand smoke.

Second-hand smoke can lead to several childhood resperatory problems. It isn't 100%, but there is definately a link. My father was a heavy smoker and while I wasn't affected so much (I spent less time at home as a child) it did seriously affect my younger brother. He had (and still has) significant respiratory problems due to the exposure...

Second hand smoke has, at best, negligible effects to your health.
It's odor may offend you but it doesn't effect your health.

No I seriously want these things banned.
Anti smokers have gone from reasonable to militant.
I want motorcycles with engines bigger than 250cc, car stereos that go louder than the listeners ear, bicycles on roads, alcohol, obese people and many other things banned or taxed at rates that are equal to what smokers have to pay.

The tears would be gigantic.

Where did I say anything about a restaurant? I was referring to public spaces... there are many of them that don't include restaurants...

BTW, in the country where I live, there is no such thing as a "smoking restaurant" anymore... :)

Smokers pay for their share of taxes to enjoy that public space.
Don't like it go somewhere away from their smoke.

Funny... you know roads predate the existance of automobiles... and not everyone who ride a bike is always using it for recreation... for some people, it is also transportation... and a much cleaner one then you are using... . and FYI, if it is safe for me to do so, I DO get out of the way of motorists if I know there are there, but commonly the reason I can't safely get out of the way is because of illegal parking by CARS!!!

Dude, your slow speed is more likely the cause of car accidents than a car going fast.
You guys should totally be banned from roads without sidewalks or bike lanes.

A plague on humanity I tell yea.

A tag tax wouldn't be a bad idea either.

I used to be reasonable, but it is the attitude of smokers that have pushed me to being militant...

How about when cars slow me down because there are too many of them on the road or they drive on the side of the road specifically designated for scooters and bicycles... In rush hour, I am much faster on my bicycle than you will EVER be in your car...

Don't steal my property and we won't have problems. As I said, I won't initiate force, but I will reply with it if force is used against me.

If i ask you to stop smoking after you come in the my area, and you get ****ty about my request, well, i have no issue with snatching the smoke out of your mouth. If you think that assault with a deadly weapon is the appropriate response.... well then. Good luck!

That's a mandatory 10 years :2wave:

And you wonder why the government wants to step in; we have people threatening to use deadly force to protect the sovereignty of a ciggy. Classic!

I used to be reasonable, but it is the attitude of smokers that have pushed me to being militant...

I'm a very reasonable person, I don't even toss my cigg butts on the road but between the tax increases and the ban of sale over state lines coupled with these retarded restrictions on the use of public space by smokers.

Screw it, I think I should start tossing them back on the road.

Sorry dude, I guess you get a taste of your own medicine with that.
That's life, I guess you have to deal like I do, being a supposed public nuisance.

I used to be reasonable, but the attitude of smoking nazis have pushed me to being militant and want to start smoking again out of ****ing spite.
