Koran Burner: Creepier Than You Think

What actually is getting to me is that the Imam's and others who are wanting to build this building are *using our 1st ammendment to promote their right to build it* . . even though it's just personally *hurtful* and disrespectful to the families who were directly affect by the actions of 9/11. . . nevermind how the victims *feel* about things - to the Imam's that's not *important*.

But when it comes to burning the Koran they suddenly want *us* to be concerned for *their* feelings?
*Their* religion?
*Their* thoughts?
They want us to be afraid that *they might act out violently*

You know what - I have a Koran (I have a Bible and a bunch of other religious holy books, too) . . I can burn it if I want to.
I just might do it. . . because if they're going to use *my rights* against *us* - then I'll use my *right* against them - two can play at that game. I refused to be bullied. If someone wants to be an ass**** to *me* and *my husband* - I can return the consideration two fold.

All that being said - I'm not planning on burning my copy of the Koran because it's a great support for my wobbly kitchen table. . . so all of you who just freaked out right now - take a chill pill.

But if I do - I'll let you know. I'll also video tape it and put it on youtube if I so please.

(edit - so this post marks my change in opinion on this issue - I *was* against it because it might incite violence overseas.
I'm not going to burn a Koran because I still think it's stupid - but if they're going to be allowed to build their center because of our 1st amendment then - well - if someone wants to set a pile ablaze then by all means. . .cue my avatar)

Aunt, it's THEIR first amendment as well. and as much as i don't like it, one could make the argument that this could be a healing exercise. however, one could NOT make the argument that burning a koran is anything but a hate filled act.

none of which takes away from his constitutional right to burn a quran. I like the ploy though. discredit the guy as a nutter and you discredit his rights as a citizen.

Just because a person has a right to be a creep does not mean that being a creep is ever a good idea. Nor does it mean that other people are right to point out the creepiness and condemn it, as long as they don't get law enforcement involved.

A little bit Fred Phelps, a little bit David Koresh. Sign me up! :screwy

You want to know what is really, really creepy?

We have a president that sat in front of a fool for 20-years inhaling toxic waste emanating from the mouth of his mentor/Reverend.

That is far worse than burning a Koran... for Wright infected tens of thousand with poison from the pulpit for this country and Whitey, year after year.

His Post 911 show was a real doozy. Of course... Obama was never there when any of this happened...

Creepy is the press rolled over for Obama and defended this scumbag.

Now we have the product of Wright waging war against our country and our values.

These books will go up in smoke, irritate the usual suspects, and the story will die.
With Obama, we still have 2-years to deal with the creep, and that the masses never got to know the real Barack Hussein Obama, that the Journolists failed to inform the public of this menace is creepy.

Fortunately the Cult of Obama is being dismantled and the incompetent exposed for being an empty anti-American suit.

"There is a slightly creepy cult of personality about all of this." Rose confronted him on his use of this phrase, and he explained that it made him "a little uneasy that he's so singular. He's clearly managing his own spectacle. He knows how to do it. He's a -- I think, a deeply manipulative guy..."

Evan Thomas (Newsweek) with Charlie Rose.

Of course this was after he was elected, and Brokaw admitted we don't know much about this guy.

this has what to do with burning a koran?

Thread title: Koran Burner: Creepier Than You Think

I was putting things in perspective. Illustrating what's really creepy and really influences our lives.

This Koran burning is just performance arts; no creepier than your leftists desecrating Christian symbols, or burning the American flag.

I don't get the uproar from leftists who have watched their compatriots do both with eagerness. And of course Wright, who after 911 desecrated those who perished, condoned the actions of the terrorists by saying "God Damn America... America's chickens... have come home to roost."

This from the 20-year mentor of our President. Now THAT is creepy, and the fact the Journolists didn't find this heinous... No, no, no... they defended the bastards... is ultra-creepy.

Capiche?
my guess is probably not

the main problem is this: people think this is a bad idea because it will make muslims mad and put people at risk.

by caving to this sentiment, the radical muslim terrorists win.

as has been said, no one on the left ever seems to complain when some "artist" wants to display a **** covered virgin mary or a pissed on cross, etc. why? because they know that christians aren't going to go out and murder people over it.

that is the problem with radical islam, all they understand is violence.

ROTFLOL... make Musims mad...

They don't need an excuse to murder, that's been proven over and over.

Make a film about Islam... murdered.
Draw Mohammed... death threats and attempted murder.
Politician who isn't a flag waver for Islam... murdered.
Fly planes into buildings... (where's their outrage?)
Bali... dead, people with flesh broiled, maiming and scarring? (Shhhhhhhhhhh).
Daniel Pearl... (did I hear a pin drop?)
Madrid? (Changed an election result in the last minute...)
Londonistan attack... no Muslim outrage.
Mowing down tourists in Egypt... Tunisia, Turkey... (did they take a vow of silence?)

Make them mad... ROTFLOL... they were raving Mad already.
The, make them mad argument is a joke.

What ploy? WTF are you talking about :roll:

Coronado didn't write their little 'rule book', the wife did. Can't you read?

If reasonable people read the book and form an opinion -- so what? That's not discrediting him. It's giving the public a more complete picture of who this person is.

This story is about a book. A book that Terry Jones finds so objectionable that he feels justified in burning it to express his dislike.

So, now we see he has a book, too.

Ploy?? How is reading his rule book and forming an opinion about his character a ploy to discredit him??

I suppose reading listen to a Fred Phelps sermon is a ploy? Or reading some KKK club rules is trickery?

Anyone wanna take bets on how many Youtube videos get posted of people burning a Quor'an tomorrow?

Let me paraphrase that: No body complains about something that doesn't cause a problem.

You can shout fire in a theater and get a bunch of people trampled and call it free speech too, but that doesn't mean you lack culpability.

You can stand on a street corner and yell "I love Butter Brickle Ice-cream" and have some fat **** come along and beat everyone around because she is on a diet, but that doesn't mean it's beyond your right to say it.

Are you seriously contending that the preacher doesn’t have a right to free speech because some intolerant Muslims might take offence and kill someone? Appease much?….. Has that ever worked?

Does it bother you at all this guy is inciting radical muslims and may get some of our troops or even civililans killed? How about the fact that he's a gift to Al Queda as far as recruiting?

Does it bother you that every time someone has appeased the Muslims they get more and more strident in their threats? What happened when Chamberlain appeased Adolf?

We can argue about whether or not this guy is a lunatic or if he is right to have a Kuran burning at his church. Be we can't deny the pure awesomeness that is that guys mustache.

Absolutely -- totally casting against type. He should be riding a Harley or cooking meth.

The little morality play unfolding in front of us is brilliant. The 'radical' Muslim Imam turns out to be quite reasonable, reaching out to Pastor Jones, and making him wonder what would Jesus do. Then the anti-christ, Phelps, shows up to temp Jones by calling out his manhood.

I wonder why some joker at the CIA didn't have a stealth team go in an replace all Jones' Korans with fire retardant ones. Just for ****s and giggles.

Let's see, I'm pretty sure it was the Muslims who reached out to Jones, asked for a sit-down. What threats did the Imam's group make? 'Come out to NYC, lunch is on us...'

Oh yeah..... he reached out all right.

Watch the whole thing.

That has no relationship to the point I made.

Who called whom?

The Imam's people reached out to the Pastor, right?

That's what I was saying. Try to keep up.

BTW - I watched the whole and Bill was fair.

baseball sucks

You're going to hell for that. LOL. But you have a right to say that. Just don't burn any baseball cards. You might end up finally bringing Liberals and Conservatives together on an issue, namely kicking your ass.
