Koran Burner: Creepier Than You Think

Yeah, you know me, Mr. Pacifist ;)

Lately, you've been like the staypuftmarshmallow man, stuffed all full of peace and love and hippy b.s. '

Golf is not a sport in my reckoning, it is a game. If the average participant does not sweat from exertion while doing it, it's not a sport.

I think to qualify as a sport, an activity must absolutely require physical contact with another human being.

one of the few "sports" where you can be a complete and total fat bastard and still be an allstar. meh
Kirby Puckett and Ron Kruk, however, are some svelte dudes!

It shares this with baseball. Double meh.

That leaves volleyball and tennis out, though.

Hippy me? Are you reading the same posts I post? Really?

I suppose it could be if you timed it and provided the participants with weapons.

It's pretty obvious that this nutbag just wants attention. I was talking to friends and just letting my mind wonder and we came up with 3 (silly) things that could be done about the doucebaggery afoot:

1.) Start a bidding war on each Koran. This guy has a pricetag and eventually, he will give up his interest in "the importance of his message" for a paycheck. Yay Capitalism over values.

2.) Break into the church the night before the burning and take all the Korans. Picture it - Hundreds of reporters. Cult members and idiots waiting, gnawing at the bit for the first spark and the Pastor comes out with his hands raised with a confused, embarrassed, "Sheesh I'm a dumbf*ck" look on his face.

3.) Have a long line of Americans waiting. Each one holding a fire extinguisher and taking turns spraying down the pastor every time he lights a match. It'll be beautiful.

Don't tell me that our troops just fought and died to protect our freedoms in vain by denouncing our Constitutional right to practice WHATEVER religion we choose and to peacefully gather anywhere to enjoy those rights - even in a rec center with a "prayer room" by Ground Zero.

none of which takes away from his constitutional right to burn a quran. I like the ploy though. discredit the guy as a nutter and you discredit his rights as a citizen.

You can shout fire in a theater and get a bunch of people trampled and call it free speech too, but that doesn't mean you lack culpability.

Two things to note here:

1. This nutter is free to be an ass, and it doesn't create violence in this country, doesn't get him stoned, lashed, arrested.

2. I'd dare say that all but a small portion of 1% of all the people on this planet support this guy and his church.

"I may not like what you have to say, but I'll fight to the death for your right to say it."

Does it bother you at all this guy is inciting radical muslims and may get some of our troops or even civililans killed? How about the fact that he's a gift to Al Queda as far as recruiting?

A little bit Fred Phelps, a little bit David Koresh. Sign me up! :screwy

What actually is getting to me is that the Imam's and others who are wanting to build this building are *using our 1st ammendment to promote their right to build it* . . even though it's just personally *hurtful* and disrespectful to the families who were directly affect by the actions of 9/11. . . nevermind how the victims *feel* about things - to the Imam's that's not *important*.

But when it comes to burning the Koran they suddenly want *us* to be concerned for *their* feelings?
*Their* religion?
*Their* thoughts?
They want us to be afraid that *they might act out violently*

You know what - I have a Koran (I have a Bible and a bunch of other religious holy books, too) . . I can burn it if I want to.
I just might do it. . . because if they're going to use *my rights* against *us* - then I'll use my *right* against them - two can play at that game. I refused to be bullied. If someone wants to be an ass**** to *me* and *my husband* - I can return the consideration two fold.

All that being said - I'm not planning on burning my copy of the Koran because it's a great support for my wobbly kitchen table. . . so all of you who just freaked out right now - take a chill pill.

But if I do - I'll let you know. I'll also video tape it and put it on youtube if I so please.

(edit - so this post marks my change in opinion on this issue - I *was* against it because it might incite violence overseas.
I'm not going to burn a Koran because I still think it's stupid - but if they're going to be allowed to build their center because of our 1st amendment then - well - if someone wants to set a pile ablaze then by all means. . .cue my avatar)

You mean like the Muslims that also died in the World Trade Center buildings and the Muslim that went off to fight in the war as Americans against the terrorists?

Yadda, yadda, yadda.

Blah, blah, blah just don't burn your house down in the process.

Maybe YOU should take a chill pill. Better yet get checked for early sizes of Alsheimers. You seem really confused.

But if I do - I'll let you know. I'll also video tape it and put it on youtube if I so please.

Don't bother. I see enough stupidity on the news every day.
