Well, equally interesting in this, and certainly obvious in the responses to this thread so far, is the assumption of a racial motivation. A bunch of out-of-hand teenagers start a load of trouble at a state fair. The police become involved and chops get busted, but because the teenagers are black their violence must be racially motivated. There's no proof of this, just one anonymous person reporting that they heard the chant, "It's Beat Whitey Night". Even the police don't know whether there was any racial motivation, yet we've got half-a-dozen DP posters assuming it was racially motivated.
That says a lot, right there.
The term "Whitey" is a negative desparaging remark used by blacks to offend whites. As such, I would say the intent is clear.
While I can understand why the black kids may be angry at white folks? Racism is wrong in anyway and so is violent acts
making a public issue of every bigoted occurrence would do nothing but stoke the fires more.. the flames of racism will never die if we sensationalize every asshole who acts that way. Everyone knows it occurs, and is not a one way street, shining a spotlight on hatred breeds more hatred.

Unless the offender is white, of course. Your attitude is what fans the flames. As long as anti-white racism is excuse, or ignored, even justified, white on ,"whoever", will be alive and well. The folks who claim to hate racism the most, are the ones that do the most to keep it alive and help grow stronger.
Thank you, Kali, for proving my point:
I said Racism is wrong. I can and do understand why some black folks may have anger towards whites. Of course I am one that understands and does not forget about History. That is just me though

I for one do not believe the flames of racism will ever die. Unless we breed ourselves into a single race or exterminate all but one. At that time mankind will simply find some other basis for prejeduce and hatred. We are an imperfect species that sadly tend to prey on ourselves.
this is so well said, i cant think of anything to add. thanks!A hundred and fifty years ago, if you'd gone to New York City, you wouldn't have believed that the flames of culturalism would ever die.
Jews, Italians, Irish, etc, were all just as clearly defined and exclusionist, just as prejudiced against each other as people of different races are today. Even though they were all white.
They didn't intermarry; any time they tried to it caused a huge row. They didn't hang out together. They formed gangs and targeted each other for beatings simply because of their ethnicity.
Today, that's all gone.
White people are just white; nearly all of them are an amalgamation of various European ethnicities, many of them with some Native American thrown in as well.
The "melting pot" thing worked.
Today, when a white person tells you, "I'm a quarter french, a quarter german, a quarter Scottish, and a quarter Polish", you just smile and nod, eyes glazed over with boredom, and promptly forget what they just said. It has no bearing whatsoever on anything. They're still just white.
My hope is that someday, when a person tells you, "I'm a quarter Kenyan, a quarter Taiwanese, a quarter Dutch, and a quarter Sioux", it'll be just as irrelevant. Your eyes will glaze over with boredom and you'll lie and say, "Oh, that's very interesting", but really you'll be thinking, "Who cares? You're still just you."
We're not to that point yet, clearly. The intense focus on Obama's racial heritage really highlights how very much farther we still have to go.
Des Moines Police Sgt. Dave Murillo told The Des Moines Register today that he stands behind a police report he wrote about a weekend assault at the Iowa State Fair that referenced racially charged comments passed on to him by another officer.
Murillo stated in a report he wrote Friday night: “On-duty officers at the fairgrounds advise there was a group of 30 to 40 individuals roaming the fairgrounds openly calling it ‘beat whitey night.’ ”
The report was written in reference to the assault of a Polk City man who suffered serious injuries after a group of people attacked him in the 3000 block of East Grand Avenue Friday.
Murillo spoke briefly to the assault victim while he was treated for his injuries and Murillo worked off-duty security at Mercy Medical Center.
Murillo then called officials from the fair, the Iowa State Patrol and at least one officer at the fairgrounds to exchange information, he said. The report of the “beat whitey night” comment was relayed to him by Sgt. David Seybert, who was working off-duty at the State Fairgrounds the night the victim was attacked near the midway area, Murillo said.
God I hate when people take a small story and turn it into some overwhelming proof of victimhood and a sign of some huge conspiracy amongst the media or as absolute proof that Political correctness rules the world.
Maybe its just NOT A NEW STORY. Maybe its just a bunch of stupid kids looking for an excuse to get into trouble, and they happen to find it. Maybe its not national news because THOUSANDS of crimes take place every year in the US with some kind of racial factor, do you hear about all of them? Of course not, because its NOT national news.
So please, please, please, please, please, stop all this whining, bitching, moaning, and victimhood. Step back, look at the facts, actually consider WHY this might not be national news. Perhaps it has NO national context, and the only reason you want it to be national news is because... you think people don't realize there may be black racists out there? I dunno...
