I think that would be two ways of saying the same thing. Democrats tend to have more conservative leaners (blue dogs), than Republicans have liberal leaners (the gals from new england). (each from their own perspective of course, someone like Blanche is not nearly as liberal as your average democrat, vise versa for blue dogs)

Why would someone give their blanket approval and decide it was not good? That makes no sense.

The motives of political actors tend to be more complex than the general republic feels compelled to reason out, so they tend to conflate the perplexities of the issues into simpler, more manageable terms, according to their individual or collective ideological preferences.

If you notice something good in yourself, give credit to God, not to yourself, but be certain the evil you commit is always your own and yours to acknowledge.

Good... Now if the Reps would also read the legislation before they vote no, maybe the Dems would get more things done.

How many times do I have to point out the fact that dems and reps are both party whores and both need replacing before it finally becomes clear that I am equally disgusted by both? This thread diversion STARTED with me telling Crunch I was more excited about the prospect of a rep majority than a dem.

    Dammit...

NO MORE excited about the prospect of a rep majority than a dem. What a difference a two letter word makes...

Splinter groups always seem to realign with their party when their votes are really needed, both parties. Who knows what kind of persuasion goes on behind closed doors.

What do you mean "Who knows what kind of persuasion goes on behind closed doors"..... where have you been for the last year?

Sen. Ben Nelson's hardly the only lawmaker extracting sweetheart deals out of the health care reform bill.

While the Nebraska Democrat got a particularly juicy concession in exchange for a "yes" vote on the 10-year, $871 billion package -- permanent and full federal aid for his state's expanded Medicaid population -- support from a slew of other senators likewise came with a price.

Western states got more money for hospitals that serve Medicare patients. Louisiana got up to $300 million in Medicaid benefits. The list goes on.

Senate Republicans lined up Saturday to decry the latest deal targeted toward Nebraska, which was decried as the "cornhusker kickback."

"Votes have been bought," Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., said.

Oh wait..... that was FOX News, and everyone knows FOX News is biased.

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger savaged congressional plans for health reform in his 2010 State of the State address on Wednesday, calling the legislation "health care to nowhere" that's infected with "bribes, deals and loopholes."
