I feel the same way. Especially about church bells. And traffic noise.

    It's a cultural center.

And if you think they're the same, you've never been to a Mega-Church.

Imagine yourself trapped in a multi-media nightmare auditorium with 6000 sheep, crying and sniffling, singing to twisted funk-rock versions of real hymns, while a "pastor" with little or no religious training whatsoever preaches to you about homosexuality, all the while he's dreaming about a hotel room nearby, some poppers, and a stud named Chad. Welcome Mega-Church America!! The most un-Christian version of christianity.

Don't forget to pony up some money, because they know how much you make and you can't get saved unless your poor.

pieces of the building and plane actually crashed through this building. it's definitely part of the place of the 9/11 attacks.

#2 - It's an Islamic Community Center that include - along with prayer space - a basketball court, a theater, and is open to the entire public. Thus, it is not only NOT a "Ground Zero Mosque" because it's not at Ground Zero, it's also not even a Mosque - no more than St. Mary's Hospital is a Church because it has a chapel in it.
it is a mosque and it is intended as a mosque - a 'victory' mosque, in fact. you may want to do some reading on the history of this initiatives' name. it is intended not to be any kind of 'open door' or 'bridge' to the rest of America; were that their intention they would have been willing to build somewhere else where they wouldn't provoke a backlash.

#3 - This is a yet another instance of Conservatives (and wimpy a-holes like Harry Reid) reveling in the restriction of someone's rights.
i would love to see your instances of such individuals calling for the government to restrict these people's rights?

The only threat to freedom I see comes from the likes of Newt Gingrich, Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, and their supporters.
which is what? they insist on having the right to verbally attack your actions if they find them reprehensible? the horror!!!

If you are against this, then you are in favor of any group preventing the construction of any building on private land anywhere simply because they might take offense to it. Go ahead. Open that can of worms.
no, i'm in favor of free trade, which involves two free parties, the buyer and the seller. if nobody wants to sell their labor to the Cordoba initiative, then i find that an elegant solution to this 'can of worms'

It will very likely get built and there will be people who will build it - in a down economy (especially for construction workers), intelligent beings will take the money.
perhaps so. we shall see. certainly it will have the opposite result of that which is claimed as it's intents.

How so? To begin with you are comparing two VERY different places...
Nationalism in high dosages may be hazardous to your health. Please consult a psychiatrist before beginning a regular regimen, and if feelings of elitism and douchbaggery continue, discontinue immediately before you become unable to do so on your own.

I don't understand why debris from the plane crashing into the building is relevant. Was the Burlington Coat Factory the terrorists target? No. Is the debris holy? No. Was anyone killed in the Burlington Coat Factory? No. So why is it even relevant?

But thats just your opinion and the facts aren't on your side.

He didn't say the "government to restrict rights", he said "conservatives restricting someone's rights."

Since when does exercising the right to free speech trump property rights? If I were to weigh verbal attacks against property rights and binding contracts, I would say the latter would win every time.

Yes, people can choose where they want to work, but do they have the right to prevent others from working? Are you in favor of labor unions?

perhaps so. we shall see. certainly it will have the opposite result of that which is claimed as it's intents.
And what shall we see that you are so certain of? Violence, perhaps? You want to see more bloodshed at Ground Zero? Americans killing Americans because of or at Ground Zero, now how would that look?
