If it wasn't for the employers, there would be absolutely no reason for illegal aliens to come here, and there would be absolutely no reason to want to change the Constitution.

Put the blame for illegal aliens where it belongs - On the enablers of illegal aliens, otherwise known as the employers who hire them.
AZ past a law in 2008 targeting employers of illegals. Janet N. signed it when she was the gov. Guess who is suing AZ over the employer sanction law (Obama's AG). I agree that employers need to be targeted. Seems the Feds want to tie Arizona hands.

    Politics and votes?

So, 18 years from now those who support this will lose 60,000 votes...??

Republicans will talk about anyone's shortcomings provided it helps them put off addressing their own for another couple decades.

Hispanic voters form a sizeable bloc, and they tend to support a laidback immigration policy.

If you notice something good in yourself, give credit to God, not to yourself, but be certain the evil you commit is always your own and yours to acknowledge.

As Republican members of Congress press for changes to the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, preventing automatic citizenship for babies born to illegal immigrants, opponents insist the debate is not really about babies.

Instead, they say it is about politics and votes – not fixing the immigration system.
Still, the debate could resonate in Texas, where not only 1.5 million illegal immigrants are estimated to reside but at least 60,000 babies are added to their households annually.
Parkland Memorial Hospital delivers more of those babies than any other hospital in the state. Last year at Parkland, 11,071 babies were born to women who were noncitizens, about 74 percent of total deliveries. Most of these women are believed to be in the country illegally.
State Rep. Rafael Anchía, D-Dallas, accused Republicans of using the births to generate an explosive election issue.

"They're pulling the pin on the immigration grenade," he said. "It's all about the November elections and continuing to use the immigration issue as a wedge to win votes this fall."

If Texas can have an economic benefit from sharing a border with Mexico that provides them with easy access to extremely cheap labor, then Mexicans should be able to benefit from sharing a border with Texas that allows any child they have born on U.S. soil be a U.S. citizen.

Define laidback policy? Im Hispanic and I want the illegal aliens gone but legal immigrants shouldnt have to jump to so much red tape to become a citizen.
