No more hardcore then backing spending Trillions we don't have for social programs that keep getting bigger and bigger and never solve the problems they were created to solve. Remember the "War on Poverty"? How much money has been spent with little to no reduction in poverty. Why is it clear minded to support failure but to suggest stopping "social services" is extreme??
Climate, changes. It takes a particularly uneducated population to buy into the idea that it's their fault climate is changing and further political solutions can fix it.

Have you considered the value of not wasting time on the internet and finding a job?

Also $700 is WAAAYYYY Too much money. For me, my wife and my two kids we spent $120 every 2 weeks.

Not as much as the government can be trusted. Our food stamps come reliably each month, can't say that a food pantry will be open reliably each month.

You're one of those folks that thinks money is just something Gov't has in unlimited supply.

Guess what honey, it doesn't. Not only that, but Gov't is wasteful, full of fraud, and encourages sloth. Why work when other people will provide for you? Why bust your ass when the "Gov't" will provide for you.

That's what's so insidiously EVIL about Gov't Social Programs. And I suppose your big problem with relying on Charities, Family or Churches is they might actually ask you to start fending for yourself instead of providing for life.

Sure, and you sure are having loads of success with that!

I'm unemployed, been so since 02Jul10. I start Job hunting next week. Bet you I find a job before you. And we haven't applied for Food Stamps, Welfare, Unemployment...

    Why?

We refuse to. My wife makes just enough that we can eek by. I have to make changes, we've cut services, altered our routines and looked for ways to save $$ and make her paycheck stretch. And that's WITH the kids here, an added expense we normally do not have.

Ah, here's the same tired argument that people on these programs don't want to provide for themselves, and if only they weren't so lazy. Well let me tell you, can't wait to get off of food stamps, it'll be a good day. And no, I know that the government doesn't have unlimited supply's of money, but I am the type of person who thinks the government should allocate some of the money it collects for these types of welfare programs. While I think these programs need to be reformed, and instead of just throwing money at people they should help people get back on their feet, these programs are far from evil.
And the thing about charities, is besides their nature of being unreliable from the fact that they don't have a steady income, is that during economic downturns like the one were in, these charities are often dealt with the horrible reality that more people will probably need their services, and the fact that they probably won't be seeing the same kind of donations as everyone's wallet tightens. It's a vicious cycle really.
