Imagine that some crazy guy in an insane asylum claimed that underwear gnomes were stealing his underwear out of the dryer. I don't think that's really important, right? There probably wouldn't be a thread about it here, right? Now imagine that Barack Obama said the same thing. I think it would probably be frontline news on every media outlet that the president is crazy.

You don't think that part of a major political party putting something on it's platform that you would say yourself sounds like it's coming from an insane asylum is news?

Not only that but for receiving a prize designed for peaceful means or for conducting extraordinary acts science and humantarianism that help move the global society forward that doesn't carry a "title of nobility" with it. We're not talking about being knighted or declared a Duke or Prince heir to some throne here. We're talking about someone who has received the Nobel Peace prize (after the fact, mind you)...BIG difference.

Birthers...Truthers...Tea Partiers...now 13ners...(Although I contend that the Tea Party has a far better chance of being legitimized than the remaining three. Still...)

    Give me a freakin' break!

(Ronald Reagan was knighted, but that came after the presidency. And even if he was still in office, it would probably be okay with Iowa Republicans because, you know, Ronald Reagan.) How come Democrats didn't get this creative from 2000 to 2008? We just went to Michael Moore movies all the time.

I think the GOP should make this part of their national platform.
I shall respond in a correct and appropriate manner.

These people are whacked. They should instead focus on the 10+ percent unemployment...4 trillion dollars the adminsitration ahs added to the deficit...democrats raisng the debt ceiling to 15 trillion, major cities like Detroit in utter ruin, a complete lack of leadership on everythign from spending, to the war to illegal immigration enforcement. Adoption of the Bush policies on ant-terrorism...denying terrorists their constitutional rights...opening a GITMO in Afghanistan. Their ridiculous platform takes away from the OBVIOUS MASSIVE FAILINGS of the current adminstration and lends nothing to correct political discourse.

    Thanks for pointing that out!

You know, I thought this was a joke, but I checked the Republican Platform of Iowa, and sure enough:

7.19 We call for the reintroduction and ratification of the original 13th Amendment, not the 13th Amendment in today’s Constitution.

Interesting. I didn't realize that it was 'official'. I was just thinking it was a small group of nutjob-nobodies, hence my reaction to this thread earlier.

I think the GOP should make this part of their national platform.
They would also have to amend Article I, section 9, clause 3.

No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed.
