Obama to 'Netroots:' We have begun to deliver on change

"In ways large and small, we've begun to deliver on the change you fought so hard for," Obama said. "And we're not finished."

President Obama addressed a group of generally supportive skeptics this week: Internet-based political activists known as "Netroots," some of whom have criticized Obama over such items as Afghanistan and the failure to create a truly government-run health care system.

"Change hasn't come fast enough for too many Americans, I know that," Obama said by video to a Netroots Nation convention in Las Vegas. "I know it hasn't come fast enough for many of you who fought so hard during the election."

But Obama added, "we've begun to deliver on the change we promised." His video included a review -- narrated by MSNBC's Rachel Maddow -- of such accomplishments as the health care bill, the stimulus bill and the recently signed Wall Street regulation bill.

Like it or not guys, this President has done more in the first two years as President then most do in 2 terms. Maybe that's why the right thinks he's so radical? He gets **** done.

He's going to have a long, long list of accomplishments come election time.

I think what irks the right the most is that we have a President which has managed to brush off the majority of weak attacks made on him. They couldn't attack people he associated with so they tried to paint him as a Muslim, they couldn't get him on race so they blamed him for the failures of the past government, they couldn't beat him with Palin or Steele so they tried to beat him with Jindal, they couldn't get with BP so they tried with edited videos. What did Obama do?

I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality. - MLK

I think they need to build more momentum on all fronts and stop playing defence.

Obviously a sycophantic thread for Obama.

It's too bad that all the changes he's pulled through with (for the most part) are anti-constitutional. (that's anti as in antagonistic to the values of the constitution and bill of rights)

I don't know what "anti-constitutional" means, but none of them are unconstitutional.

    - Health care bill : Anti-ninth amendment, by taking federal control over something that is a state or county concern. It's also against the concept of a 'free-market' where people are now FORCED to purchase insurance whether they want it, need it, or even if they can afford it. This isn't even 'socialized medicine', because it's money going to private insurance companies...

    - The stimulus bill : This goes completely counter the concept of a free-market... by dictating that these companies are 'too big to fail'... this was the same for any previous bailout... oh, also, I find it someone against american interests to have the majority of this 'stimulus' being shipped out of country, or used to move factories off-shore. Not to mention that it gave greater powers to the federal reserve, which is an unconstitutional institution to begin with.

    - Wall street regulation : for all intents and purposes gives the federal reserve to eliminate any competing institution, because they make the rules now... These are all anti-freedom, pro-communism/fascism measures... I'm sure I could think of other examples.

    - The arizona issue : Airzona's representatives pass a law to deal with criminals in their district that the feds weren't dealing with, they come to Obama begging for help, Obama responds by suing arizona on behalf of the illegal immigrants.... that is against the 11th amendment, however, the better word to describe this is treasonous.

I know its hard for you to deal with the fact that Obama is doing everything legal, but you can't simply paint everything you don't agree with as against the constitution. As for the health care bill, the mandate is authorized by congress's power to regulate interstate commerce. The mandate is a tax and thus it is completely legal.

Arguing that Obama is violating the constitution is a joke. The guy was a professor of constitutional law for 12 years. I've said it many times, you are never going to catch Obama violating the constitution.
