Quote(Every year, the Annual Report of the Social Security Board of Trustees comes out between mid-April and mid-May. Now it's July, and there's no sign of this year's report. What is the Obama administration hiding?)

Indeed what are they hiding. Evidently they do not have some catastrophic news story coming out that would by it's shocking nature, hide the issuance of this report.
    perhaps rahm could invent something?

Has there even been any effects? A lot of the provisions haven't even taken effect yet.

With regret yes there has already been some effects.
My Dr. has in his office a notice informing his Medicare patients that as from May 1st medicare payments to him for treating medicare patients will drop by 21%. He states that his costs are continuing to rise and should medicare (aka The Government) place more restrictions on him and his practice, he will either have to defer from taking on more medicare patients/ Turn some of his Medicare patients loose to find medical care elsewhere/Start charging an annual fee to make up for the shortfall.
Now i do realize I am only talking about my Dr. because that is the only one that I have actual proof.
However on talking with several email friends across the US, they too say they are seeing similar notices with the offices of their Drs. practices.

Don't know what the reason is here. If it's political we're going to have a huge oh **** moment at it's release, but it could be that the new rules are throwing the accounting process off, it could be that the people in charge of the program found a major accounting error and are compiling the numbers again. Who knows? I certainly don't have enough info to speculate but will say that if the reason is political get ready for some pain.

I've found a few news article about this drop being reversed. The bill to reverse the bill passed the Senate in mid-June and the articles say the House was set to vote the next week...
Medicare pay hike OK'd by Senate, but too late to stop cut - Jun. 18, 2010
Still looking for the results of the House vote...

Obama wants it reversed also, apparently.

edit: And it's the Republicans who have been blocking the reversal of that pay cut!

i guess i wouldnt agree on the currrently proposed bill on the current issues with medicare payments.
why? becasue in my archair warrior opinion, this has been steadily getting worse for years.. the few dr's and care facilities(such as a nursing home) that are culprits in taking advantages of loopholes, have damned the many who are legitimately trying to give real care to their patients. as opposed to those who are grossly overcharging or over analyzation of the patient to increase their bottom line. without a rule to stop it, the greedy will always sacrifice their fellow man for more.
as a parallel example, public aid/welfare will pay the regional top dollar to a rentor, for housing a welfare recipient(same price to the state in a town of less than 1K, as it is in a town neaby with 50K). or another parallel example would be a contractor charging "prevailing wages" for state associated work in an lower economic area(city wages in a rural town), where they would receive perhaps less than half otherwise in the same area for typical residential construction.

many of these culprits that i know of would freak out upon accusations of "fleecing" the taxpayers and in the same breath badmouth social services(and those darned democrats). its like a farmer who is a stauch republican, yet takes every subsidy payment they can get.. then complains about welfare.
in woe is the politician who suggests cutbacks in welfare for the rich and poor alike..

While I'd love to believe that, generally when government has a bad report, it sits on it. When it has a glowing report, it pushes it out as fast as it can. And when it has a really bad report, such as Foster's projected cost of the Republican Drug bill, the government blackmails, lies and threatens to delay it as long as possible. Social Security is screwed and they're delaying the report as long as they can.

Well - is Obama really saying "don't release it yet!"
Or is everyone else - or someone else - being a kink in the chain of function?

does the government just need an enema?

It has happened before, but there is nothing to compare it to now.

I'm worried about that of course. Simply saying I really can't speculate at this time.
