Most of what you presented is in reference to his bi-racial identity issues. If there's anything racist in his past it's how he was treated *because* of his skin color - from both blacks and white alike. There's nothing racist with his thought process and his struggle to deal with it.

Now - take all of those out and you're left with him attending the Reverend's Church and a few other things. *maybe that much*

    Ah *facepalm*

Trying to convince me Obama is a racist... is like trying to convince you that Strom Thurmand was a champion of Civil Rights...

Oh how far we have come in race relations, where white dudes could call a black man who worked his way up from nothing that he's an elitist snob and a racist. Somehow that just doesn't click.

He's assuming that those black members of the GOP are simply token niggers, exploited by the Republicans and not free thinking people who made a concious decision as to where their politics lay.

But, hey, Liberals don't believe that blacks can think for themselves, anyway, so it's no surprise.

To be honest I think the Republicans exploit race too. They push for black candidates to break the stereotype that Republicans hate minorities (which is false). I am not making this accusation, but I would like to propose the question. Do the think Michael Steele got his position because he was black? Clearly the guy doesn't represent the Republican party very well (with his current controversial comments regarding the war). Do you think he was put in his position in order to "compete" with having a black president? Do you think Republicans try to have more black candidates in order to break a false stereotype? I would say Republicans exploit race too.

I have no idea if it's how he got the position, and it doesn't really matter to me, but he's a good respresentative imo for the more moderate elements of the Republican party. He seems to have had a good solid history, he's smart and sensible from what I can tell, and he appears to speak what's on his mind, which is something I like even when I disagree. I've not heard any dirt on him, and if it was out there, you can rest assured someone would have put it out for all to see.

I am not assuming, it is pretty clear to everyone but those in denial of the racial issues in the Republican Party.

How many non white delegates were there at RNC meeting that elected Steele? How come it was only after the country dumped the GOP, that the RNC suddenly chose a non white leader (or chairman) out of a very very white membership and delegate number? The reports I have read is, that there were under a handful of black delegates out of the 168+ people there, and they happen to choose a black candidate for the first time just after loosing the presidency to a black man .... yea right....

Seriously PeteEU, the very millisecond you are struck by even the most myopic strain of something approaching an intellectually honest and rational point of conversation not predicated upon a full frontal and dorsal lobotomy mired in stereotypical derision, please send up a flare!
