Yeah, the free market isn't doing so well on this, are they?

Strengthening the levees would have mitigated much of the devastation of New Orleans.

Well of course not you, I mean you were the one who decided that it was so important to talk about my ego, and my greatness. Who am I to stop you.

Well...Im thinking if those foreclosed homes were spewing 1 barrel of oil a second, then yes...the government would by damn step in and resolve the crisis, then worry about who paid for it. Sort of like...you know...they DID...with the banks...so...ummmmmmmmm...yeah...

One...when the well is spewing a full barrel of oil a second you deal with the disaster FIRST. And since The One has been in charge since day one...he obviously has been doing a pretty ****ty job of THAT. "No...daddy HASNT plugged the hole yet...and stop asking, you little ****. Go to your room."

And two...you want honesty? Hell...how many times here have I pointed out Bushs legitimate failings on the budget, government spending, and a dismal job following up on the war? Point of fact, I have pointed out on NUMEROUS occasions that Bush and his spending policies are the primary reason i left the republican party. So...no...I dont think I actually embody the partisan hackery thing. I think that is reserved for the absolutely blind myopic muppets that cant bring themselves to criticize their O verlord. You know...the dumbasses who believe the president of the country is responsible for the levees in NOLA...and not just ANY AND EVERY president but that particular president...

I too think a president can't do two things at the same time.
He touched her over her bra and underpants, she says, and guided her hand to touch him over his underwear

Oh, sure; piece-a-cake. That's just boat crews. That doesn't count pipe yards, tool companies, service hands, truck drivers, catering companies. Not to mention all the non-oilfield related companies where these people spend their income, such as car dealerships, resturants, grocery store, house mortgages, etc.

And, yes, they're all American, because to work offshore and leave out of an American dock facility, a person has to possess a TWIC (transportation worker's identification card) and foreiners can't get a TWIC.

HOUMA — As many as 80 offshore boats, about 15 percent of the Gulf fleet, are out of work while the legal battle over the Obama administration’s six-month deepwater-drilling ban continues, an industry group says.

Each boat employs 12-18 people, said Ken Wells, president of the Offshore Marine Service Association. While that doesn’t necessarily mean immediate job losses, it’s a sign that the ban is, as feared, having an impact on offshore work available.

i wonder what your comments were related to auto mfr's, rv mfr's and boat mfr's when they were closing the doors. deep well drilling employees are most certainly not going to be alone in the unemployment line. this recession has been around for years.(long before it was admitted)
not that i wish for anyone to lose their job, but ****e happens and youd better adapt, rather than whine about it.
Does that mean you would support a government bailout of the oil and gas industry?
