Poll: 26% Of U.S. Clueless On Who We Declared Independence From

It seems the more government is involved in education, the worse our education is becoming. Too many agendas, too many silly PC benchmarks and feel good nonsense. Too many people involved whose primary purpose is not the education of our children. If there is to be reform, hopefully it will be in the direction of less involvement of government bureaucrats and politicians, and more involvement of teachers and parents.

After I posted this thread, I went to Starbucks for coffee. I asked the assistant manager and she replied "I have no idea."
I think a naturalized citizen would have a better chance of getting the correct answer than someone born here.

I was in a sub sandwich shop one day and these three young menwere behind the counter, arguing about who was on the $100 bill. They asked me if I knew and I told them Benjamin Franklin. I then asked them which President of the US Benjamin Franklin was, they hemmed and hawed and finally and one of them guessed the third. He was quite shocked when I told him he was never President.

I believe the majority of the problem with eduation in this country is lack of parental involvement or caring at all about how/what/if their children are learning anything. The next greatest problem is tenure which makes it very difficult for bad teachers to be fired. The last thing on a long list needed improvements would be money. Money isn't the answer.
 
OK. So what have we learned? That Debate Politics is filled with very intelligent people, who know a lot about politics and cannot add to save their lives. :2razz::2razz::2razz:

I've had plenty-a-lesson in math and it just ain't my thang. I'll never argue that with anyone.
 
I bet this Poll is probably inaccurate. These polls usually seem pretty wrong.
 
I think that there are probably some inaccuracies in these numbers. I don't believe the best way to conduct polls is by randomly calling people, especially on their cell phones. Plus, how do we know that some people didn't purposely answer the questions wrong to be funny or with "I don't know" just to get it over with as quickly as possible?
