Texas GOP Platform Advocates Criminalizing Gay Marriage, Banning Strip Clubs...

Its a religion just like atheism and Catholicism. All have evidence to support their beliefs.

No. Atheism is a lack of belief, Catholicism is a faith, and evolution is a scientific theory. All are different.

Mainstream political organizations attempt to make themselves a "big tent" and appeal to as many folks as possible. For you to reject this platform because it isn't entirely in line with Biblical teaching suggests that you would reject the Democrat Party platform because its not entirely in line with Marxist theory.

But then again, being an "Independent", you likely reject both parties in the interest of maintaining your purity.

I reject this platform because it smells of hypocrisy. I have met many a Christian who act like "Dem faggots belong in jail! Dem homos is gross sickoes because they do it in the butt! Queers don't like vurginas! Now leave me alone and let me fornicate, buy porno, and go to female strip clubs." There is a real problem among some of the Christian right when it comes to literally hating homosexuals instead of not approving of the sin and loving the sinner. Most of them who hate the gays are macho rednecks that have slept with multiple women as well. I very much dislike the hypocrisy and therefore I do not support those who also support the hypocrisy. Living sexually pure does not mean pointing fingers at homosexuals and ignoring any form of straight sexual immorality. Plus in a capitalist society the sex business has a right to exist. It would be "socialism" to regulate the free market and ban a certain business. I personally would never go to a strip club, and I can encourage others to live a sexually pure life style, but under the current laws these places have the right to exist.

Just because I don't support this legislation doesn't make me a Marxist or a Democrat. I do reject many Democrat party platform issues like abortion because they do not align with me religious beliefs as a Christian. I am an independent, but I'm not an extremist anti-political party person. I voted Republican in the last election, and I have no problem voting for either party so long as the candidate is the best fit for what I believe. I am an independent because I take each issue as its own and make a decision based on what I think is logical. Some times the conservative position is the most logical to me, and other times the liberal position is what is logical.

All require Faith or faith.

No, they do not. This is why I suggest learning about things like science before commenting, so you don't make such mistakes.

If we're talking about preserving the sanctity of marriage, shouldn't divorce and adultery be outlawed first? The bible doesn't look too kindly on that behavior, and actually talks about it a lot more than that one sentence about how a man should not lie with another man.

Let Texas and their supporting states paint themselves into a far right corner, driven by hatred, fear and ignorance..
The Democrats have have the other 80% of the voters.
I hope 80% is correct, and not 40%, this would be cause for concern....grave concern.

The proposal from Republicans in the Lone Star state makes the following claims related to the party's view of homosexuality:

Texas GOP Platform Advocates Criminalizing Gay Marriage, Banning Strip Clubs, Pornography

Ah Texas...

:peace
Is this Texas or 1941 Germany - I can't tell. Thankfully these elitists are too out of touch to understand that this won't fly with the majority of Texans. I live in ultraconservative East Texas, and even here gays aren't afraid to step out of the closet, and most people have no problem with them. The only way they could enforce something this asinine is if they had an army of Stormtroopers to back them up - and that doesn't look like it's the case here.

There is no imperical evidence for any supernatural Catholic beliefs - that's why they're considered supernatural, since the evidence shows that they can't happen. 99.995% of all scientists have agreed for over 200 years that evolution is fact.

Move to Iran or Saudi Arabia if you like theocratic fascism. The American People don't want it, neither did our enlightenment-inspired Founders (that's why they revoluted against the Christian theocratic govt of the British Empire and their God-ordained ruler King George III), so deal with it. You have more in common with Allaytollah Khomeni than you do mainstream Americians.

Oh look, Godwin's Law.

Awesome: appeal to humiliation: fail.

No, it was a matter of your equating te gayz with pedos that reminded me of that video, but are you actually serious? Do you not know the difference between pedophilia and homosexuality? Was that priest comment a joke?

Not every Texan agrees with their platform. Remember Ann Richards one of the greatest Governors out of all the States.

Would it even be Constitutional for them to make it a felony for someone to perform a wedding ceremony for a gay couple? I would think that a law like that would definitely violate freedom of religion, not to mention freedom of expression.

If it is a civil servant issuing a license from the State I think they can do it.

From what I read, they aren't talking about just issuing licenses. They actually state both, issuing the license and performing the ceremony as trying to make felonies.

Yet another bunch of republicans that need to learn to keep their religion to themselves.

So much for Republicans wanting to get government out of our lives and letting us do what we want with our money.

There's ONE difference between Republicans and Democrats.

Republicans pretend they have different beliefs.

So in other words, they want to ban religious practices that the State disagrees with. I guess this means they can't bitch about "religious discrimination" anymore.
