(June 18) -- Sarah Palin says recreational pot smoking is "relatively speaking a minimal problem" in America.

In an otherwise uneventful appearance on the Fox Business Network with Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, Palin said that while she doesn't believe marijuana should be legalized, the country has bigger fish to fry.

Well that is true.... We got to fix our economy, try to stop that oil leak, the health care system now in disarray because we don't know whats up and whats down. And apparently, the unions are running the government right now. So yea, i gotta say, pot is not high on my to-do list if I were a politician....

i see these rationales not to do anything about an issue because it is not at the top of a list of priorities
but why is it that an issue should not be addressed only because it is not among the most pressing problems needing to be solved
the congress spends much of its time voting to recognize things such as 'national ice cream day' ... somehow, that measure does not appear to be among our nation's most pressing issues
we are negotiating about dividing a pizza and in the meantime israel is eating it

That's a very Alaskan way to think. Alaska's number one cash crop, off the books, is marijuana because of the amazing growing season you get and the vast amounts of land to hide a field of pot. A lot of people don't realize it but marijuana law enforcement is more lax in Alaska than it is in California.

Wouldn't it be ironic if hemp could soak up the oil spill?

That would change some perspectives on it's legality I think.

What's this? That makes no sense. I was told Sarah Palin is an ultra-right wing nutjob whose a die hard religious right social conservative. Obviously this story is a lie, the hyper partisan liberals wouldn't misrepresent her so its the only answer!

In all reality this is likely the most likely way of handling this in the next decade is more of a defacto decriminilization then a full out legality of it. I think eventually the latter will come but this is probably the stance that is more likely in the near term.
