State figures show the oil and gas industry supports 320,000 jobs, 12.7 billion dollars in wages and 70.2 billion dollars in business sales.

AFP: Anger mounts over offshore drilling moratorium

It's going to be im possible to justify killing this many jobs and this much revenue.

Doesn't the Federal government need more money now, not less?

Purdy stupid move, both politically and financially.

I predict that this ban on offshore drilling will be lifted sooner rather than later.

I would also expect to see Onshore Drilling to gain more acceptance.

It is all very well for Obama to screech about US independance from Foreign energy suppliers, to contunually bleat on about Clean Energy.

Forgetting that the MAJORITY of vehicles in the US are powered by Oil based fuels.

This is not going to be something that can be changed simply by endlessly spouting the Mantra 'Clean Energy'.

The other problem is that anyone wanting to switch to a vehicle using clean energy will need Money to buy that vehicle, with a continuing over 10% unemployment within the US, how does Obama imagine that these vehicles can be bought.

I suppose he could simply give these vehicles to everyone?
