‘Fundamental Mistake’ Made Before BP Oil Spill, Lawmakers Say

Here is a diagram of a cased well. Notice the cement goes all the way to the bottom...on the outside of the wellbore. Between the outter casing and the wellbore. If you still don't understand, then there's not much I can do for you, sir.

You claimed in another thread that the cementing job is the reason that the well blew out. For that to be possible, the gas pressure would have to travel up, through the cement; the cement between the casing and the well bore. Please, explain how there was enough pressure to push four miles of cement up to the drill floor, in just a few seconds. There would have to be upwards of 200 thousand pounds of pressure to accomplish that.

Care to explain to us how that is possible?

I don't believe I ever blamed the cementing job for this. If you agree there were 3 plugs, and not the entire well cemented, why do you think the oil/gas would have had to blow thru 4 miles of cement?!?!?! The oil/gas would have had plenty enough pressure to blowout the plugs (probably demolishing them) up thru the well.

How does a gas bubble shoot up through solid earth. Got any explanation for that one?

What spurs my curiosity the most, is how many different stories we're going to hear about how this well blew out.

What the hell are you talking about? The oil/gas blew up past the 3 cement plugs, which were separated by sea water instead of mud, inside the well. The cement was outside the well hole casing between the casing and the earth.

Let me say this again: so far, everything is speculation. When your speculation involves getting th anatomy of the downhole assembly backwards, then your speculation turns into complete bull****.

This post is totally igonorant of how things work in an oil well. "3 cement plugs, seperated by sea water rather than mud"? Seriously, dude, you need to learn alot more about how drilling operations go about, before you start making assumpttions. Lemme' educate you. There are no cement plugs seperated by mud, sea water, God, or anything else.

That clinches it. You don't have a clue what you're talking about. You never worked on a rig and if you did it was probably checking fire extinguishers. You haven't read anything we posted nor have you read anything that YOU posted! They don't cement the entire well!!! The Horizon well had just finished their THIRD "plug".

Show me ANY proof that supports yours.

Show me that they...

1. Did not install 3 plugs (just prior to the explosion) and
2. actually cemented the entire well :2rofll:
