While most of Washington was focused on Tuesday's election results, the House was busy doing something else: Passing a resolution about beer.

House Resolution 1297, sponsored by Rep. Betsy Markey, supports "the goals and ideals of American Craft Beer Week."

"We've got quite a number of microbreweries and entrepreneurs that are creating jobs, and we wanted to celebrate that this is a craft," Markey told POLITICO.

"I think beer has been a tradition since this country was founded," said Markey. "We wanted to celebrate entrepreneurship — and good beer!"

See, good looking politicians submitting important and highly worthwhile resolutions. That's the kind of politics I like to see.

I'd like to see Congress jump off a cliff. WTF is this crap all about? I mean I like beer as much as the next man. Especially microbrews, which are plentiful in Colorado. But come on, get back to work. The economy is still in the crapper, we're in Iraq still and Afghanistan still. Our debt is ballooning out of control. Let's get some real work done. We can worry about the little fuzzy **** later.

Do I really need congress to tell me beer is good?

I did, being 19 and below the legal drinking age I haven't yet tried this.. "beer" (*Chuckle Chuckle*)

They're the reason you can't have a beer until 21. To me if you can do the most adult things like sign a contract, join the military, vote, and the most dangerous of them all..........get married, I think you're adult enough to drink. Come to think of it.......if you get married at that age you're definitely gonna need a couple.

The house has to amend this bill to

"Beer is good, but only if you are over 21. If not, it's evil don't ever drink it (glug glug)"

It seems that beer has been in politics for a long time:

“Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.”
Ben Franklin

About time the resolution was passed:beer:

What angers me about the sentiment is that they tell our younger adults.... "Well, you can be compelled to service, you can lose money on a contract, or you can otherwise make your life miserable. But the best parts of being an adult are unattainable because we say so"

i'll drink to that
pleased to see the congress is doing something worthwhile in its efforts
