Besides, I know we didn't steel land from Mexico because we stole it from Native'Americans, derrr :mrgreen:

Surrendering is expensive. Just think of all those never-fired cannon and rifles, mint-condition war ships and uniforms without so much as a mud stain.

Why do you think they have the French Foreign Legion? They don't want Frenchmen dying in battle, and if there are any Frenchmen in the Legion, they are probably criminals hiding from the law, so no loss, either way.

This is just an aside, but this kind of crap bugs the ever-loving **** out of me because it indicates that you have NO idea about history.

The French basically stomped balls for most of their history. They beat the crap out of the Romans repeatedly and actually became something that Roman mothers used to scare their children at night, the ****ing Romans! These are people who rolled up most of the known world at the time but they couldnt seem to take the scruffy naked not-yet-called Frenchmen. They kicked the Seljuks in the teeth (and the Seljuks were serious iron-balled badasses) several times. They fought a HUNDRED YEAR LONG WAR with the English and survived. Napoleon was one fleet of ships short of OWNING all of Europe (Actually he DID own all of continental Europe, he just didn't have Britain) and some argue he gave us the modern way of war.

Yes France surrendered early into WWII however keep in mind they were still suffering after WWI AND that they suffered over 5 million casualties, mostly civilian, during the war. Also keep in mind the French Resistance numbered almost a million strong by war's end and were credited with weakening German influence in France sufficiently as to enable DDay to even take place.

France is 4th worldwide in military spending and maintains a nuclear arsenal of over 300 nuclear weapons.

It's time to drop this francophobe crap.

At one time the French had extremely big balls, but they hung them out so much that they lost them. It was so bad they had to substitute a girl for their leader, but she was burned at the stake because she had more balls than the French men, and they couldn't have that.:2razz:

The symbol of his country was being used to mock him and imply that he doesn't belong here if he celebrates the culture of Mexico.

The white trash boys in the pickup truck weren't waving the flag in their faces to say we love you and your culture--they were driving around looking for trouble trying to provoke people... Asshole, bigots in a pickup.

If the cops weren't there, the white punks would have gotten the crap beat out of them, and deserved it. If the same white punk bigots had come upon an underage Mexican girl walking alone, they might have done what this type of ignorant trash does...

I watched that video several times, and it plays like I just came into the middle of a movie and am trying to play catch up, until the entire move is repeated in an hour and then I get to find out what is happening. Unfortunately, that won't be the case here because it is impossible to say who started this one. Now you come on here, watch the video and automatically assume you just know it was the white punks who started it because all whites are punks and they are the ones who start everything according to your mindset. You wouldn't be a bigot would you?

People can hate on the French as much as they want, but it doesn't change the fact that we owe our existance as Americans to them, regardless of the hour in which they arrived or what their motivations were in helping us (chief among them their rivalry with the British).

People also seem to forget that the French were by far the biggest victims of the first world war, which is why they were not prepared for the second one.

However, I realize that this is a huge diversion from the topic for which I am (partially) to blame. If people are still interested in debating French history perhaps someone should start a new thread.

It is interesting to note that the French Foreign Legion never surrendered during World War II and its ranks were just about decimated after the war. Rumor has it that they were in Morocco and never received the order to surrender. Even if they had, it is doubtful they would have surrendered, since it is a Legion motto to never surrender. Perhaps that is the story that was told about the Legion that they never received the order to surrender. Then again, the Legion is made up of foreigners from all over the world, the perfect mercenary army, one group of badasses.

I'm just pointing out what's really going on in the video. The flag was knocked to the ground when it was waved by a group looking for trouble...trying to get a reacting by baiting people...
