Local School Suspends Student for Removing MEXICAN Flag

Holy ****! Apparently according to Hazl's exquisite logic Old Glory stands for the lynching blacks and gassing jews...I mean, they're holding the flag so it MUST mean the flag endorses their actions! In Hazl's words

Strawman...

and pretty feeble at that.

Maybe you want to try to debate my actual point next time.:2wave:

Ah, so someone in California is going to tell me what my heritage means. Listen dude, you don't know what you are talking about, BTW, those same KKK dudes also fly Old Glory, guess that would make the United States flag a symbol of racism as well by your standards huh?

I see you missed the point.

The confederate flag is associated with some pretty ugly parts of the American experience.

The flag of Mexico is not.

One more thing, the KKK was formed as an anti-catholic organization prior to adopting their hatred of all non-baptists and non-whites so maybe you'd like to learn a little more about the subject before telling me about my area of the country. What's next, you gonna tell me about the swamps 25 miles from my city? You wanna tell me about the best way to cook cajun food? Yeah, thought so.

They teach you all that at Grand Wizard school?

Strawman...
Bull****! You were the one who used pictures of the Klan and Dixie in the same example, your own flawed logic was exposed.

I see you missed the point.

So the Alamo and the Spanish-American war didn't have any attrocities? Or the Mexican gangs currently raping, murdering, and selling drugs and access to the border!? Cherry pick much dude? Seriously, you and justabubba are the only two missing the point here.

what causes you to conclude that the punishment given was excessive?

Because good common sense dictates that three days of suspension for throwing a paper airplane is excessive and unreasonable.

The school administrators clearly overreacted to what happened.

Why are some of the most racist pricks really cute?
Look at him - a little gem of adorableness wrapped up in patheticism.

But not white on them stompers? Can't be a real hardcore racist, yet - if I was single maybe I could change him.

Good to know, though, that he won't be dying of dehydration any time soon. Nothing says 'I made it' in life like a well hydrated racist bastard.

(If you didn't realize it by now - I'm just joking)

Kid shouldn't have removed it, but the school shouldn't have put it up.

If anything, it just shows that public schools are fascist, conformist, intolerant hellholes. I am beginning to pity any students who are being thrust into those revolving-door jokes instead of a proper private institute.

Again, further proof that people are constantly misusing terms.

Of course, it was Cinco de Mayo when the flag was put up; so the flag probably had NOTHING to do with a history lesson of the independence of one of our neighboring nations.

GOD FORBID kids learn about the nations next door to us.

No, because that Fascism! Fascism! I tell you!

Kid shoud've freaking burned it, he should have!

That's a whole 'nuther subject matter. I think in an effort to seem "zero tolerance" alot of these schools are taking childhood out of the equation and punishing too hard for minor things that kids do. I think a week ISS is pretty much accurate for something like this story covers though.

Yeah, ISS and paying for the flag would have been sufficient to me.

Suspension for 3 DAYS for THROWING A [singular] paper airplane sounds excessive - especially if no prior warnings or verbal reprimands were given before.

I felt it was a little over-the-top, but on the other hand, my son thinks he's a comedian and can be disruptive to the teacher staying on task. So, whatever. He got extra chores at home (thistle digging duty) and is grounded for a month, as well. I think it will be a while before he throws another airplane in class.

Don't take this the wrong way Catz, but your kid has something to learn. You wait for the last day of school to act up since the teachers don't give a **** anymore, thats when you get away with it.:rofl

True dat. but I'm not going to school him on it. I figure he'll pick it up, soon enough.

You've got to be kidding me.

First of all, I don't care what day it was. It wasn't in the classroom; it was placed in a public area of the school, not that it really matters anyway. If you want to learn about Cinco de Mayo and be disappointed at its origins at the same time, go to the library.

Sorry if you love our intolerant public school system. Now, eyes forward and keep your mouth closed. Like a good boy.

Do you not realize that the flag was placed there by the school's SPANISH club as part of their cultural/historical studies?

Yeah, because learning a bit of world history will only make our kids stupid.

"Cinco de Mayo is a day for Americans to drink Corona, kids. Now, save up for your Spring Break trip to Cabo! And that's what you need to know about Mexico. Moving on..."

I wish people whose kids hate public schools so much would just freakin' pay for a private school for their kids. That would likely then allow the rest of the kids to get a decent education.

If you want your kid to think that humans rode dinosaurs and don't want them to know anything about other countries or learn other languages, then pay for it. Send them to the local Bible-thumping school (or non-religious school for all I care...)

But a Mexican Flag put up by the Spanish Club is NOT some sort of imposition on anyone's right to an education.

I swear, the people of this nation get more paranoid and disrespectful on a daily basis.

Idiocracy is becoming the most prescient film ever made.

So wait...if I have a gang picture of a group of MS-13's holding a Mexican Flag it must obviously mean the Mexican Flag means Gang Violence and People Trafficing because I mean, some KKK guys hold up a confederate flag and it automatically means the flag means white power.

Who would a Salvadoran gang be holding a Mexican flag?

The more important point is that the common nationalism of mainstream conservatives and white supremacists is not incidental or something that happened by chance. Mainstream conservatives are certainly not white supremacists, but their philosophy is more conducive to the development of supremacist beliefs than more leftist ideology is, I think.

Mara Salvatrucha is not just in El Salvadore anymore.

I gotta say, some of the stories you're posting lately, you're starting to come off as really bigoted toward Mexicans.

Really? Even in the dinner thread?

I love Mexico, Baja, especially the non border areas. The people, the culture, everything pretty much. I don't care much for la raza type illegal alien hordes and other criminals and criminal supporters. bigotry has nothing to do with it.
I reallly didn't make a comment on this story other than to say things were "screwy"...... You wanted to call me a bigot, and you foolishly did once again, you can take your ignorant statement and besame el culo (i kid,I kid) .... :2razz::2razz:

I think that St Patrick's Day is a pretty good analogy for what Cinco de Mayo is to Mexicans.
Except, as I said, in certain areas of Mexico, where it's celebrated big-time.

That's ignorant.

Lá Fhéile Pádraig is celebrated in Ireland, it was not a holiday crafted by a beer company to sell beer. Origionally a holiday of Catholics to celebrate the life of the patron saint of Éire., it is now more a celebration of Irish culture.

Cinco de Mayo is mildly celebrated, like groundhogs day in the state of Puebla. That's it.

It's a fake mexican holiday.
