Schumer’s comments came as Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus , D-Mont., launched the first in a series of hearings probing the administration’s proposed $90 billion tax on financial institutions.

“We want to understand the best approach to designing a fee, to whom it should apply, and how it might affect the economy and the markets,” said Baucus, who said the committee will also explore the effects on small business and consumers and the interplay with similar proposals being considered by European countries.

Yay. Another tax for Americans to pay. I'm sure the only people whose banking fees are raised to pay for this tax will be the ones who make more than $250,000 a year.
